We have been a longtime customer of University Electric, occasionally buying quantities of appliances in a single order. IE, 10 refrigerators at a time. In the past, we have had to call them to find out if an item had arrived at the store, only to learn that it had been sitting there for some number of days. Our most recent experience was a disaster. We were quoted a price on a new refridgerator, and a somewhat pricy delivery and haul away fees. We opted to order the item, and do a will call, and attend to our own delivery and haul-aways. Delivery was quoted as one week, and that that supplier delivered on wednesdays. Wednesday came and went without a call. On Wed Evening, we called University, and were put on hold for 5 minutes, and then were told that the item was on back order??? we inquired as to a new delivery date, and the sales person said they would call back with the info. No call-back. On Thursday we tried again, and the owner said that our refrig would be delivered to Los Angeles next week, and provided that there was at least 25 other items ready for shipment from LA to santa clara, then our Refridg would be delivered the following week. I think we are done with University Electric. What a shame, but we just dont find them to be reliable anymore.
Pros: nearby, and a 30 year account
Cons: bad attitude, no appliance and no notification

The order manager called me from University Electric today and reminded me that the sales tax was going up on April first and if I wanted to save that increase we could pay in full and lock in the price. Incredible! Who calls you on this stuff. We did not even think about it and even though it is a small amount ($225) we paid our balance because our kitchen is done and the delivery is scheduled on April 8th. Thanks for the call!!!!

I bought a kitchen full of appliance from this business a few years ago and had a great experience. What happened the other day floored me. I went in with a broken glass for my microwave turntable. I was hoping they could refer me to somewhere I could get a replacement if they did not sell them. A guy from the back office, Mike, came to the counter as I was talking to someone else as he overheard the conversation. He took the glass and went to the back. About 10 minutes later he reappeared with a replacement. He sprayed some cleaner on it and wiped off the dust and handed it to me. I asked what it cost and he said On the House, I save these glass trays when we have to throw away DOA units and these cost about $100 so I keep them and give them to our customers who happen to break one. I can't remember having someone give me a $100 part for free before but I am going to be back here when my washer finally goes out. Thank You Mike and University Electric.

I had been shopping for a kitchen appliance package and was referred to Standards by a friend. I went there and was PUSHED into Kitchenaid brand appliances even against my wishes. The salesman was pushy and would not answer any questions, it was all about price. My contractor referred me to University Electric so I went there on a Saturday and was pleased to see that they had the appliances I was asking for from Stand. The salesperson, Andy, gave me his opinon on the brands I wanted versus what Stand had suggested. Andy told me that even though Kitchenaid was a good brand the products I had selected on my own were better because of customer service issues and features. The package arrived early January and we are extremely pleaded. We called a couple of times to have dimensions faxed to our contractor and whoever answered the phone, Mark I think, sent them right away. I talked to my friend about Stand and he told me that the people there get a kickback from Kitchenaid to sell their stuff and that is why they push that brand. That sickended me. My friend is maybe not so much of a source of information I thought. Thanks Andy and crew at UE. Great job and I plan to recommend you to all my friends.
Pros: Great selection, great service, friendly, not pushy

Don't bother with other appliance stores. Go straight to University Electric. We just did a new kitchen project and I did my due diligence and researched all my appliances and vendors in the area and online. After deciding on buying locally, I visited several showrooms and was very annoyed at the heavy pressure to buy and the lack of product knowledge by the staff. Some sales people just made things up as they went along! I was so relieved to walk into University Appliance. EJ showed me all the appliances I was interested in and was low pressure. I took my time to decide and called back in a rush and EJ took care of me. They were effective and efficient, and best of all, everyone at University Electric were so courteous and a pleasure to do business with. Any future appliance purchases will be with University Electric, hands down!

Ready to help, not a sales person attitude
I bought all my appliances there.
Oh, I forgot to mention that there prices were the best, without a compromise on service.
Good delivery too.

My wife and I went to University Electric on the recommendation of our contractor and a friend. It was busy but we did not have to wait long. The salesperson who waited on us took his time to explain the features of the appliances we wanted to buy. We spent about an hour or so and he gave us a quote. I was amazed that throughout the sales presentation we were not pressured to buy, this has been our experience with most major purchases. We made two more trips into the store before we made our purchase. The appliances were delivered in cartons and were put into our garage and our contractor installed them. We now have a beautiful kitchen with awesome appliances that work great. Our purchase was about $16,000.00. After reading the reviews below and being in retail myself (furniture store owner) I decided to write this review. I understand that not everyone can be satisfied with even the best service. From what I saw on my 3 trips to the store and phone calls, delivery, etc. These guys know what they are doing. I am sure that the from how many customers they take care of that only a small few walk away with a bad experience, unfortunately those are who usually write complaining. If all the satisfied customers would write in there would probably be pages of praise.
Pros: great selection of products
