Paramount's Great America 4/15/2006

Good coasters, although they removed the best one. Excellent drop zone. Lots to see and do, but mostly do. The lines can be long and crowded although things move pretty smoothly. The park offers 6 different types of rollercoasters- sitting, standing, sitting with your legs dangling and so on. My favorite ride is Top Gun as it is an inverted ride and truly lives up to its name. The best time to go is during the evening and towards closing since there are no lines. Great place to take friends and family; sometimes they even hold concerts here as well. more

Great Coasters at Great America 4/14/2006

Paramount's Great America has some very unique roller coasters. My personal favorite was Stealth. Unfortunately, Stealth, the worlds first and only flying roller coaster was removed a couple years ago and moved to another Paramount park. In its placed is a newly built water park. Of their current ride selection, I would have to pick Top Gun as my favorite. Top Gun's coaster is floorless which means your feet can dangle freely. Just as the ride is about to end, it makes a sudden turn and makes it feel like you are headed straight into the nearby lake but lifts you up just as you are about to hit the water. more

Nice average theme park 4/12/2006

I have lived in Bay area for years, but I had never visited Great America until last year. I always thought, all theme parks are same and I have visited quite a few. But I went to Great America last year, and had a lot of fun. Even for a Sunday, the part was not wildly crowded (may be because it was close to season end) like Disney parks, so it was much better experience while waiting in line for the rides. Also the character photo spots were not overly crowded and my baby got a small gift (candies) from each character. Also there were some rides that a 1 year old can ride by herself. The fall decorations were in place and they offered a diff sight than disneyland. All in all I enjoyed it a lot. But I don't see myself going there every month unless they add something new. more

Great America Theme Park 1/10/2006

Great America Theme Park has been one of the largest attractions in Silicon Valley since it opened in 1976. The park is clean and well maintained with a neatly manicured landscaping and water gardens. There are a wide variety of attractions to choose from. From thrill rides that will terrify the most seasoned riders, to kiddie rides and play areas. BE SURE TO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES, SOME RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS WILL GET YOU VERY WET!! There are plenty of food choices throughout the park. The food is the usual hamburgers and pizza that you'd expect at most amusement parks. There are live stage shows and strolling characters throughout the park, as well as plenty of souvenir shopping opportunities. The park is owned by Paramount films, so there are stores featuring movie theme items. Great America is a fun place to take friends and family. If you plan to visit more than once, a season pass is a good option to consider. The park is easily accessible both by car and by public transportation. Come out and have a great day at Great America!! more

PGA DAY! 9/28/2005

If you're the kind of person who loves rollercoasters, then this is definetely the amusement park for you. This is a great place to bring the kids because they also have a complete kids' section full of tons of different types of rides. There's even a play pool for the toddlers, a water park, and tons of other water rides. For the teens there are rollercoasters galore, drop zone, etc. They also have a very nice food area with different foods. The arcade center is filled with tons of different arcades game, including earning tickets for prizes. The price is just right if you're looking for an extremely fun-filled day, but be aware if you go on a Sunday or Saturday--the place may be jampacked with people! more

fun park 8/20/2005

Great America Theme Park is located in Santa Clara. It is very close to Central Expressway, 101, and 237. They have many different types of rides. roller coasters, merry go rounds, all the water rides. They even have this large tower that you is raised a few hundred feet so you can have a clear view of the entire park. They have this new crocodile dundee water area for children. They have a new ride that take you backwards rather than forwards. This is a great park. more

Your standard roller coaster park 8/15/2005

Paramount's Great America is your standard roller coaster theme park, not unlike any "Six Flags" roller coaster them park you would find anywhere else in the states. That said, the park does have lots of different coasters, including Top Gun, where your legs dangle off the coaster, Grizzly, a wooden, rickety roller coaster, and Invertigo, where the coaster shoots you forwards and backwards for a really wacko ride. Food at the park, not surprisingly, is not cheap and rather expensive. A burger can cost you upwards of $9 for crappy theme-park food; a Coke runs you $3. That said, if you've got thrill-seeking little kids, then Great America is a great place to take them as there isn't many other options in Silicon Valley. more

Great America 8/14/2005

Great theme park. There is something for everyone. There are tons of little mini parks for the little ones. Teens have a blast here, This is really a teen hangout. The rollercoasters here are really cool. There are many of them too. Unfortunatly you can spend an hour waiting for some of them. The park can still be fun for those who dont like rollercoasters. There are water rides and a mini coaster which is just so much fun. There is also a 3-D theater which is showing a clip with Spongebob right now. The con of this place is really the crowds, there are just so many people, the lines get really long. But they have a really good deal to get into the park called the WOW card. You pay the first time you come to th park and then you can come free for the rest of the season. Yes, this park is open only during the summer season. more

Northern Cali's best! 8/14/2005

Paramount's Great America is the kid's dream. It has the many different versions of roller coasters, spinning rides that make you dizzy, and best of all, DROP ZONE! It is such a thrill to drop so far down and so fast! The Grizzly is an all-wooden roller coaster that is pretty old school. I recommend the Demon, which has the loops and a corkscrew. The new Crocodile Dundee water park seemed a good place to relax. Make sure to splash people on Rip Roaring Rapids and eat the humongous Funnel Cake! more

Fun Day 8/11/2005

This Amusement park goes for about $45/ ticket, but is good for the whole season. They divided the park up into sections for kids and a section for the older kids and adults. The kids sections are themed after cartoons such as scooby doo and have exciting roller coaster rides for young ones. For the adults, there are outrageous rides, such as Top Gun, Vortex, Drop Zone, etc. The food court is filled with great food (thats bad for your health). There are gift shops, shows, and movies for those who fear roller coasters. Plus, their water rides are awesome! more

Great America Review 8/9/2005

Great America is one of the more popular theme parks in the Bay Area. They are known for their great rides, notably top gun, invertigo, drop zone, and vortex. all of them are pretty solid, with little lines if you plan your visit right. try weekdays and nites. tickets can be found cheap at safeways for about twenty five bucks a pop. of course, like all theme parks food is expensive so i suggest packing a lunch or snacks atleast. more

Great America 8/8/2005

Great America is a big amusement park, but not as big as six flags or anything. This park has rides for everyone, trilling rides, kids rides, and more. The food here is expensive though but that's normal for an amusement park. Here they offer a WOW card, when you buy a full priced admission, they let you in free for the rest of the time it's open. more

Eh. A theme park. 8/3/2005

I think I've only been to Great America like 4 or 5 times and I'm already tired of it. Unless they get some new rides in, I'm not taking the effort of dagging myself over there. But to be fair, the first time I've ever visited GPA I was estatic. The roller coasters were great, except for Stealth, which broke when I was the next in line. I got to ride it another time and came to the conclusion that it was the best roller coaster in the park. ... And then they tore it down for some stupid little kid water tower thing. But I guess they had their reasons. That ride often malfunctioned. This theme park is great for families because there are good roller coasters and whatnot for teenagers and adults, but also kiddie rides. but for $45 a pop, I'd rather go to Disneyland. more

amazing and excellent 8/2/2005

Mind blowing is all that I can say about this place. I buy annual passes to the theme park every year and have great fun there with family and friends. The pros are just endless, if I had to think of anything bad about this place it's next to impossible. It's a fun place for people of all ages. According to me the best rides out there are Top Gun, The free fall from the tower (or whatever it's called) and so many other rides. Keep up the great work !!! Way to go guys !!! Love you folks... more

It's a theme park! 7/15/2005

Great America can be a fun place to visit, but rememeber it is a theme park, and it has all the issues that one associates with such places -- over-priced amenities, huge crowds, long lines, and a big-ticket admission. That said, if you enjoy theme parks then you'll have a good time. It has some good rides, and there are also live performances and other events that take place at the park. It's conveniently located on the peninsula, and easily accessible to most (You can even take public transit.) If you can get past the cost, you can have fun. (Try buying a multi-use pass at a discount if you plan to go more than once in the season.) more

Roll away 7/9/2005

tons of fun awaits you here! Go with a buddy though so you can wait out the long lines. There are tons and tons of people so you might spend an hour and a half waiting in line for a killer rollercoaster. So worth it though since when you are on there it is a blast. Expensive. They have a "wow card" program. When you pay about $50 the first time you come and then you can come for the rest of the season for free. WHAT A DEAL! more

Been going here for over 10 years now... 7/6/2005

I really like Great America. It's easy to get to from most anywhere in Silicon Valley, the rides are a lot of fun, and the food prices are somewhat reasonable (better tham movie theaters, that's for sure). The weekends can get crowded, so the best time to go is on a weekday in the middle of the week -- which of course is tough if you are working. The park is not an in your face type of theme park, so it may be a bit mild for some. Overall, I like the variety of rides for all ages, the location, and the staff. Best theme park in the Bay Area that's for sure! more

teens and families 6/24/2005

Great America has improved a lot since it was taken over by Six Flags. They added a bunch of new rides that are bigger, scarier, noisier, and plain awesome. I dig roller coasters and so do a lot of people I know. It sucks when there are long lines because you waste most of your day just standing around for hours. I guess that is unavoidable because the park can only get so big. The season pass is a good deal if you go at least 3 times during the season. more

A great amusement park! 6/18/2005

Great America ROCKS! It has tons of roller coasters and they are all loads of fun! The only problem is, there are long lines for the rides most of the time unless you go an a weekday (not during the summer). Also, the admissions price is pretty expensive (about $40) but you can get a Wow! Card and come back as many times you want that season. more
