this airport is pretty reasonable for any kind of traveling. If you are staying within the United States it is definately better than hauling up to LAX. It is a small airport so there isn't much to do, but there is a smaller chance of getting lost once inside the terminal. Everything runs relatively smoothly out of here, although they do not offer any late night flights or incoming flights after 10pm as to not distrubt the neighboring communities.

The John Wayne Airport is actually pretty nice when it comes to airports. The bathrooms are usually clean and I've never had a really long wait. Generally you can get there an hour before your flight time and you'll be fine. It's so much better than LAX! It can be busy during the week but that is par for the course. They have parking across the freeway on Main Street if you are going to be leaving your car there overnight. I'd choose it over LAX anyday!

This is my local airport..so I usually end up here. The security lines are HORRIBLE on weekdays. It went fast for the first class ticket holders, but took me an hour to go through the line on a Monday. I had my son with me, and it was very difficult to entertain him for 2 hours while we waited for our flight. They have very little food and shopping options, and prices of course are high high high. Parking isnt easy...but getting in and out to the freeways thankfully isnt difficult.

If you arrived here 2 hoours befoore your flight leaves (as is reccommended by the FAA), you're in for a long slog. There's nothing to see here at this tiny airport which you can walk the entire length of in about ten minutes. No boookstores; there's a MCDonald's and a restaurant that wishes it was Denny's but that's it. Given its size, you can probably arrive an hour before your flight and still have plenty of time to wander why you got there that early. I knoow what you're thinking -- it's an airpoirt, what do youu expect, but with today's airports being attached to malls, museums, or at least having monorails to ride oon while waiting, this one makes the others loook VERY exciting.

Whenever I need to fly I choose JWA over the ABSOLUTE HELL of going through LAX. This airport is much smaller and as a result there are less crowds, processing is much faster, and in general less stressful. If you are talking passengers to the airport, drop-offs and pick-ups are a breeze. The inside is very easy to navigate with clearly placed signs everywhere and there are a few eateries inside also. Staff have been courteous every time I visit. Only wish is that Jet Blue would come to this airport! Note that there is a planned expansion of the airport terminals/parking so we'll see have it affects the way JWA operates.
