Even my mother-in-law loves to go to Wisnoms.
They have a great selection of fancy hardware and decorative items. If you need help deciding the best way to repair something, their staff is very helpful and will help you pick the best product to accomplish your goals.
The have the largest selection of light switch plates I have ever seen, and they also have a fabulous kitchen wares section.

House of Values in San Mateo uses an interesting concept. They don’t have nice showrooms, but they have tons of catalogues you can look through to find just what you want. Because they don't spend a huge amount of money on decorating the showrooms, their stuff is quite reasonably priced.
Roney’s in San Leandro is similar, but the showroom is a lot nicer.
