Our local Target is remodeling. It's not my favorite Target (Redwood City and Serramonte have that definition) but it's local and I go there a lot. So today the kids want to go to the Starbucks in Target. I say, fine, and agree to spend $6+ to get them drinks -- then I find out that the drinks are "complimentary" -- I saved $6+ ! I wish I had ordered a snack and drink too! I'll definitely be going there again!

I think T J Maxx is owned by Marshalls. I get presents from there all the time and sometimes return them for credit. Then I buy kids clothes there - which is usually brand name and for about 1/3 to 1/2 of retail prices. I also buy clothes for myself and my husband - I get great quality items for $10 or $20 - and people think I spent a fortune. I don't shop at Sacs but I look like I do.

I love Old Navy! I only shop their clearance rack and can always pick up a shirt for my son for less than $5. They frequently have sales on their socks and underwear and they last! I have handed down socks from child number one to child number two and they are still going strong. Their kids sweats are well made and have stood the test of time. And they have great after holiday sales and you can pick up a Halloween costume or Valentine pjs for a song.

I don't care as much about customer service (I hate Nordstrom, and actually how it's given everyone an attitude about how other stores should run their business), but I hate low quality too (like WalMart). So I'd say low prices but brand names. I love Mervyns for this. They have brand names and their own names, but most of them are mid-range quality. I shop there for pretty much all clothing.

I go to Ross weekly. I find great burgains there - from shirt to pants to baby staff to household things to jewlry to underware to things for men. You name it - they have it and at super low prices (undies for $1.99 not on sale, kids oncies for $2.99 not on sale.) They once had baby bjorns for $49 (i think) - great price considering they are $80 at toysrus. I love Ross!

I am a fan of shopping at Costco when I can. They have some great deals. The big drawbacks are that you need to buy in bulk, that they don't always have consistent stock and that there are so many choices! I just went by because last year they had Panettone around this time, but $100 later (really cheap in Costco dollars) they didn't end up having it this year! I did find lots of other stuff to buy and I was really lost since there are just so many things to look at. It's really daunting. They also have birthday cakes, but I'm not fond of the Costco ones. Some Costcos have gas, tire replacement and many other things. It really can be a great deal to buy a membership.

I usually have no reason to go to Kmart, except that it's a pretty good location, so I stopped by yesterday to get some mailing packages. They literally had *none*, no stationery that I could see at all. The store is still in as bad of shape as it has always been -- it's bad when WalMart is trying to become Target (good luck!) but Kmart isn't even trying. Not to mention there are always people out front trying to get you to donate money to some cause or another. They don't do it anywhere as consistently as Kmart. I have no reason to go back.
