This bead store has a great selection of beads, chains, wires, mandrels, and much more. Handy when you need and item quick & don't have time to wait until your shipment comes in. Their prices are a little on the high side, but i supposed they need to be to pay rent for the brick & mortar store.
The classes that they offer are fabulous!! Take a class by Kate or Iris =) great instructors & you will have a fabulous time.
The thing that keeps me weary about returning here is the day to day staff. They have never been friendly toward me. When I go to pay for something or ask to have a length of chain cut I get the feeling that I am bothering them. (Esp the one with the glitter name tag). The staff has horrible customer service, never ask if they can help you, and don't make eye contact at all when selling. It makes me feel like an intruder when I go into the store.

They are rude, snippy, and just not nice people. I never feel that the store is a "welcome it's so great that you have come here to shop". I always get the feeling that they are doing me a big favor. Therefore, I will not be shopping there again.
Susan, you and your employees should take a course in customer service. After all, that is what keeps the people coming back!

I have shopped at this store a few times, and have found some nice beads and some supplies, however I had a bad experience that makes me not want to visit. Plus their hours are bad -- most stores in San Mateo open at 10 and this one opens at 11. Anyhow, I was in with my son, and he happened to touch a glass case (not a pile of beads, which he could have easily done) and the employee told me to keep him away from the glass case because he might get fingerprints on it. Like adults don't leave fingerprints as well. Not to mention they have a kid's table and toys, so you'd think they would be amenable to kids visiting. Because of that experience, I do my bead shopping elsewhere.

I just love browsing in bead stores, and now the one closest to me just got bigger and better. Used to be across the street, now they moved into a space big enough to hold skills classes, stock beading magazines and books, and hold a LOT more beads. To keep track of all the beads, and because the space is so huge, they also installed hidden cameras everywhere to cut down on the shoplifting. Sad that people would want to steal beads worth as low as five cents, but it happens.

I really like going to this little bead store located in downtown san mateo. They have a wide assortment of beads and other accessories to make jeweleries. The lady who owns the store is also very nice which also makes the visit pleasant. When ever I need beads to make bracelets, I would go here.
