The technicians were all very nice, but I went in to get the permanent hair removal done and basically got ripped off big time. Supposedly you should notice results within 5 visits, I went in over 15 times and never saw a difference in my hair growth. I DO NOT recommend getting this treatment! IT DOES NOT WORK.

The Spa Studio has a very relaxing ambiance and I have been a regular client for over 5 years. The staff is very knowledgeable about the natural skincare products they use and sell; and have made great recommendations about products for my sensitive skin. One of my favorite packages is called "Make-Me-Over". It includes a massage, facial and a salt glow treatment; the salt glow treatment is given in a beautiful, blue tiled room with candles and soothing music. Once my eyes are shut, my worries disappear and I feel like I am relaxing on a tropical beach. Another treatment that I just discovered is called Siddha Body Detox. With the steam canopy and the detox treatment, I am able to detox, burn up to 600 calories in 1/2 and have soft, glowing skin after the treatment. The Spa Studio cares about the health and welfare of all their customers by using premium products and offering knowledgeable advise. Wendy, the owner of the spa, helps fight cancer by donating a portion of selected services to the Women's Breast Cancer Foundation and Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer Society. The Spa Studio is conveniently located in downtown San Mateo, and stays open until 8:30 during the weekdays. If you are looking to relax, unwind and get pampered.... I just received a wax service, massage and scalp massage at Spa Studio. The waiting area is a big part of a day spa experience for me and their area sort of fell short. The ambiance was nice and they had a good assortment of refreshment choices, but it is only separated from the front reception area by a veil, so it is not very secluded and quiet. The chairs are not really relaxing either, but it's pretty. The changing room is a small room with a few lockers. Not very inviting. The shower, restroom and amenities are in another room. Again, it's just a personal preference of mine that there be a nice changing area that includes all the amenities. The services also left much to be desired. I've had waxing done several times and the technician has only had to "wax and pull" one time. It took three painful times. The massage felt rushed and aggresive. When I say aggresive I don't mean that it was deep. I mean that the simple action of turning my head to the side should be smooth and gentle, which it wasn't. I'll probably give the spa another chance for a quick massage, simply because it's close to home and there might be better technicians available, but I would not use it for an indulgent little get-away. Pros: Good location Cons: Not very tranquil, poor services

Well, they took care of me. I really enjoyed relaxing and sipping of a cup of tea before my massage in my soft robe - I can't believe the difference a massage made. I've been to alot of places for waxing - but this one is it! My ancestry is european and I have alot of hair so waxing services are important to me. I received a brazilian wax, a 1/2 leg and underarm wax - it was almost pain free - if there is such a thing with waxing. They use this purple wax - the best! I'm now a regular there and I highly recommend it! I always enjoy a cup of tea before my service too - it's very relaxing!! You might want to give yourself a little time to find parking after work though ;) Pros: Ambiance, service, value, clean, nice staff Cons: arrive early for parking - they have a garage around there but it was full

I went to this spa to get my legs waxed. The technician did not know what she was doing and was asking me advice on how to wax. She took much longer than normal and left me bruised and bleeding. To make things worse, the owner kept interrupting to hurry up the technician because she was taking too long and her next apt. had arrived. I would never go back to this place, it is overpriced and has extremely poor customer service.
