231 Ellsworth is an excellent choice whether you are dining with just one other, or hosting a large party of 25. I have taken numerous friends, associates, and clients to 231 Ellsworth and never been dissapointed. The food is always creatively and preferectly prepared. The menu changes with the season and there is always something new and interesting to try. A great place to dine.

My husband and I finally had a chance to dine here last week. Everything was incredible! We got there early, but had a chance to look at the menu in the window. They were not 100% ready at 5:30, but invited us in and got started on our drinks while they lit the candles on the tables. Inside it's a romantic setting with cozy booths lining the walls and tables arranged where you didn't feel cramped at all. They promtly brought out fresh, hot bread and room temp butter (thank you!). As we started on the break and cocktails, they checked on if our drinks were ok and the waiter soon took our oder. Although warned that the tuna was served pretty rare, I ordered it anyway, and was very embarrassed to ask them to cook it more. The waitress totally knew what I was going to ask as she came to our table. When my plate did return, it was the most incredible tuna that I have had...period. The fish was so tender yet cooked al the way through (tough with tuna), stacked on top of delicious mustard greens (although I don't eat veggies, not one leaf was left on my plate), and lay in a coconut sauce that was like liquid heaven! Before our main entrees were ready, the chef sent out samples of thinly slices fish drizzled with oil, a strawberry soup of some type, and a sample of yet another cold soup. My husband's pork dish was great too: moist slices of pork over a great sauce. The service was great too. At least 5 people served us at one point or another during our visit. Although we did just pop in during the middle of the week, I would highly recommend reservations. I can see how a place like this can easily and quickly establish regulars no matter what day of the week. The price was a bit more than a casual dinner, but worth every single dollar especially if you go there for an occassion. We will most definitely return (and this time I will consider the waiter's suggestion about the fish...still feel terrible!) Enjoy!
Pros: service, food, and atmosphere
Cons: $$, no mixed drinks

If you normally cheer at a television set alone, this is a good place to view over a burger and onion rings. They are a sports bar, but they also have lots of seated tables, and people come to eat not just to drink. People come to stay a while, and it's a friendly place. You can join a table, or be seated at the bar. There are several televisions at various angles so nobody has to struggle to see. The food is basic grill fare, but quality and filling.

This market is Foster City, but you wouldn't know it by talking to the workers. I was looking for honey and I figured that they must have it since some Chinese food is made with honey, but just got confused looks from the staff. I have never felt so white. I wasn't looking for marshmallow fluff, for pete's sake! On the plus side, their produce is quite reasonable.

This restaurant is on the high scale end. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice, with aqurium lined up around the room and the windows are open next to a lovely garden. The food is very good, i would recommend coming here for lunch or for dim sum (which is relatively cheap). However, if you are here for dinner- I recommend getting something from Silver House as oppose to here. The food is pretty good. Lots of Seafood choices, and the menu are so lovely!, however, It is very expensive, for not a lot of food. Lunch is great because everything is premade and you just chose something for a lunch plate. Dim Sum here is prett good, they move around pretty quickly with a lot of variety, however, sometimes the food arrives cold , but that is to be expected at some places. Very formal dressing waiters and waitress, but casual dining for some.
The wedding banquest here are very good!

Food: Excellent if you know what you order. Don't expect your instinct to pick food is always right. What I mean is with Chinse dishes in general, they may use "unique" ingredients or spices that may not be usual with American or Americanized Chinise cuisines. I actually had experience there ordaring something I don't know and having something I didn't really like. For me, that's totally ok to try something new and end up with learning something (could be good or bad).
Anyway, I highly recommend "House Special Wonton Soup." Their Duck is also good. Very good. Yes, it's
fatty (that's what a duck is supporsed to be), but good.
Food 2: If you expect "Americanized" Chinese food there, forget about it. There are tons of those
Americanized ones everywhere, but there are very few restaurante serving CHINESE foods.
Service: Not good in AMERICAN standard. This restaurante is not so much Americanized (that's
why the restanrante is good for many, but may not for some other peple). Think you visit China and go to one of an ordinaly restaurante there. You don't have to act like humble. Be a kind of bold. If you don't speak up clearly, servers may not get what you are asking for. At least I have never had bad customer servise or communication issues with them like many people complain (I am not Chinese, anyway).
Cost: It is not bad at all. It is just like regular Chinese restaurante (not fast food ones), but food is
a way better.
Pros: Food.
Cons: Don't expect good servise. It's just okay.

I love to get pizza from here, because it's family owned and they always remember your order. You don't even have to mention the delivery address, because you can get familiar with the staff. The crust on the pizzas are good, and the bread they use on the sandwiches are also. I love to order the eggplant with extra cheese, which gets all toasted and crunchy outside but hot and bubbling in the middle.
