Coyote Point is a really nice place to visit when you want to see animals (they have a small "zoo"), want to be inside, or otherwise need to entertain your kids. It is really convenient to 101 and downtown San Mateo. They have summer, spring, and winter camps for kids, and "Toddler Tuesday" where there is some craft project for toddlers.
Unfortunately, there is talk of closing this museum down. I wouldn't be surprised if the local yacht club and golf course wants to take over the gorgeous land it rests on. This would be a big disservice to the kids (and adults) of San Mateo and surrounding communities.

My church often times has BBQ's at this museum which is how I discovered that they have a museum. It is a wonderful place for little kids to laern about mnay different kinds of aminlas, what they eat, and what they do when they are in danger. There ae many things to look at including racoons, snkaes, and bees. There is always something new to visit. Exhibits often rotate so the children do not get bored. There is an admission fee to get into the park, but its per car, not per person.

Wow - excelllent museum for kids. My little one loves the zoo - she can stay theref or hours. Once a week she goes to a toddler even there and she enjoys the cosialization. She loves going to the park to see trees and water. She loves the adventures of the outside. We even camp out with a picnic basket outside by the Coyote Point Museum sometimes

This museum has a bit of everything. They have a mini-zoo along with ecologically themed exhibits in their museum. They have "Toddler Tuesdays" where there is an event for toddlers every week, as well as summer camps. A little bit for everyone. There is also a park right there, and a walking trail as well as the yacht club. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

A must place to see. This museum has many activities for children. They have many different kinds of trees, plants, ponds, and many types of birds to see. You can also see them feed some of the animals. Admission is very inexpensive, adults are like $6 and kids are $2. They also have a great picnic area where you can stop and have lunch. You can also have a party here on their premises. When the weather is warm and not windy, this is a great place to go.

The coyote point is a nice place to bring little kids..I went there once with my family and it was fun. I went with my younger cousins and they had a good time. I think its like a little mini zoo. The good thing is that the park is very close. And everything coyote point has is pretty. It has a pretty view of the water. I think parents should take their kids their at least once just to check it out..=)

The Coyote Point Museum is a little different from the usual kids' museum but it is still interesting and fun for all ages. Even my toddler can find things to interest him, He especially likes the point of view of landing in an airplane! There are exhibits and interactive fun for everyone.
One of the best things about this museum is that I get free admission with other memberships that I already have (Oakland Zoo, Happy Hollow, etc.). This makes it a real bargain and frankly encourages me to try something new!
This place is worth a visit at least once.

This is a great place to go with the family. Because it is located in the a park, you can take the family there to picnic or bbq. The museum itself is like a mini zoo with lots of little creatures and information about them. I believe that the animals here are not captured but rather animals taken in to shelter. This is just a good alternative to staying at home or going to the movies.

The nice part about this museum is that it is located in a cool little park. My family and I have gone there lots of time to picnic with our friends. There are grills and tables. You can also have a nice walk around the water, very refreshing. You can see a plane landing about every minute because the airport is really close by. But to the museum itself. Its not big by any means, but the animals are wonderful. My kids (and others) seemed to really enjoy themselves here. There is information about all the different species and how they live, and if they are in danger. Its a good day away from the TV.

This is such a nice alternative to the zoo or a big museum. Although I hate seeing animals in captivity, the animals here seem like they're treated well (plus, I don't think they directly take them out of the wild. I think they just find injured animals and nurse them back to health). They also have great volunteering opportunities. The kids and toddlers seem to have a great time! It's a nice atmosphere and it's great because most (i think all) of the animals are bay area "natives".
