Parking is limited, ya gotta move carefully in the parking lot. Each of the 4 times we've had dinner, there's been a wait (good sign). Staff either can't/won't give good estimate of waiting time. Our 2 noodle dishes (Pad Thai and #43- a wholewheat noodle dish w/ asparagus-fresh, basil on a dark soy foundation) were real good. Veggies were fresh, good use of basil, the chicken was mostly breast meat- a well prepped. The mango sticky rice->dessert, was nicely presented. The 1/2 mango was fully ripe and the rice well-textured and laced w/ condensed milk.
OK- now we get to the service. It's ranged from lackadaisical to terrible- this evening. Our waiter made zero eye contact- not for 1 second. When he walked in our area (and when 2 other servers walked nearby) no one ever looked up- maybe they were studying the carpet. To receive water refills we had to ask 4 times- 3 different folks. We were not offered the condiment tray. When we asked for it, we had to ask 3 folks. One, a waiter at the next table who dropped a nearly-full rice dish on the floor near his guests, brought over a dirty tray at about the same time as a bus person found a clean one. Based on 4 visits, it appears that none of the wait staff has received ANY training in any type of customer service. I saw total indifference.
After we paid and the rest of my party left, I spoke to the person handling the money- that's normally an indication of some degree of trust. I gave him maybe 30 seconds of information- including that we all enjoyed our food. He asked nothing, showed no concern and merely replied "OK." As best I can tell, either this place has absentee management or they are so busy that they don't care if they alienate local customers.
Pros: Well-spiced pad Thai, good use of spices, nice ingredients
Cons: Terrible service, from 4 visits, it's possible that Caucasians are seated after Asian customers

Krung Thai offers a variety of Thai cuisines with different spices and flavors. Many people said that this place offers the best Thai food in town and I was excited to try it out; however, it wasn't what I expected. The food is a little over-priced and the portions are a little bit smaller than usual (emphasis on 'a little bit'). It filled up my stomach though. I tried the pahd thai for the first time and it did not taste like the usual phad thai. It was very fatty, and tasted like it was mixed with 10 tbsp's of mayonnaise. The other chicken or meat dishes were pretty good but came in a very small proportion. The service, however, was exceptional. They were very courteous and very excited to help you order.

I would have to say this is the best Thai food in the bay area. Not overly priced and with decent portions. Favorites are the joon pad poo crab noodles, garlic shrimp, and tofu khee mao. Everything is delicious though and the service is pretty fast considering how crowded this place gets! Save room for dessert too if you can!
They have their own dedicated parking lot, but only accommodates about 25 cars or so...

We used to eat in Krung Thai Winchester location, I think the restaurant has declining authenticity of Thai taste. Pricing is rather too high compare to the portion they serve.

It's no joke, the place is REALLY loud. We went on a weekday for lunch. It was packed but we did not have to wait. I could not hear myself talk let along my dining companion. The lunch portion and prices were reasonable but I did not order off the lunch menu. The size of my spicy fried rice was enough for two people. I love garlic and can eat it raw. This dish had a tremendous amount of garlic in it. I ordered it medium, which was just the right amount of spiciness. The food was good, but I suggest take-out just because the noise levels in this place when it was full was unbearable.
Pros: Good food
Cons: LOUD LOUD LOUD

I grew up surrounded by Southeast Asian food and this is one of Thai restaurant I've eaten at in the Bay Area that I can say is close to "authentic." My test involves ordering the papaya salad (som tom) and if this dish is done well, I can expect all the other Thai dishes to be pretty good - this test has never failed me :). An "authentic" papaya salad can be quite smelly and includes fish sauce, dried shrimp, shrimp paste, and pickled mudfish and can be very spicy (just the way I like it!). Many Thai places I've been to in the Bay Area will really water-down the papaya salad to meet the western palate (and only uses a tiny bit-o-fish sauce and, if they're adventurous, a few dried shrimps for flavoring) but this really takes away most of the ingredients (smelly) that make a papaya a papaya salad. These places also end up serving disappointing dishes that leave me wondering if they are a just a bad Thai restaurant or a Thai/Chinese/American place.
Krung Thai passed the papaya salad test and I left me eagerly waiting for the other dishes I ordered. The tom kha gai soup is excellent and you can really taste the lemongrass. The satay is delicious and the angel wings are just as I would make them. The beef mussuman is our favorite curry (medium spicy and our spicy-challenged friend loved it!). The pineapple fried rice is really a dish unto itself and the pad thai is a standard favorite. The FBI (fried bananas and ice cream) is well-done and not heavy (as it shouldn't be if it's well-done).
This place is always packed and there's a good reason why - it has tasty Thai food and its flexibility in spiciness level does not take away from the flavor of the dishes. Despite how hectic the place can be, the service is pleasant. The food also passed the left-over test.
It can get noisy on a packed night so not always the best place to have meaningful conversations. Parking is also very limited so come early or park on the street or order take-out.
Pros: Food, pleasant service
