When I first arrived, it was difficult to find the restaurant as there was no signage. We arrived at the restaurant early and decided to have drinks in the bar. The bartender was terrific! I got to try Reislings by the glass that are very rarely available. What a treat!
Dinner was great - we started with the ahi tartare (classic) and shared a huge "cowboy" ribeye, with duck fat fries (yum! I have to go to my trainer for 2 extra sessions!) Burrata cheese with beets was the salad. It was also delicious. Slightly disappointing were the generic desserts - maybe we were just too full!
Pros: Food, Wine list, Service - Great private dining room that seats up to 40
Cons: Tough to find

Yankee Pier is a great casual restaurant across from the Concierge booth in Santana Row, with sidewalk seating that's great for people-watching on the Row. Inside it's decorated in the Cape Cod vein with a lighthouse and seafaring decor. This restaurant is owned by the Lark Creek Group/chef Bradley Ogden which owns incredible restaurants, and it puzzles me that it's never been crowded on the days I've been there because the seafood dishes are simple yet amazing. The salads are so fresh and crisp and my favorite dish, the Maine lobster roll, is to die for (I salivate as I type this). Cold lobster salad on a hot, toasted buttery roll and served with Kettle chips --- it's genius! Granted, I have not tried many items on the menu but from the experiences I've had here, I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
PROS: The Maine lobster roll
CONS: None I can think of

My family and I had brunch at the Drying Shed on Mothers Day '08. We had reservations but we were pleasantly surprised with how quickly we were seated since it was very busy. There was a good variety of dishes and everything we tried was delicious. The service was excellent . We're happy to have finally tried this restaurant because it's less than 10 minutes from our home and of course you want to support your local merchants. I will definitely go there again. The prices were quite reasonable, especially on a Mothers Day where one could easily pay half again more than the $22 each that we did.
Pros: Professionalism of the staff. The quality of the foo and service.
Cons: The restaurant could stand some freshening up. Decor seems dated.

I've been to this restaurant twice on special occasions. I had salmon with brie - OMG it was to die for delicious! It's not the kind of place you can afford every night, but it's certainly something to keep in mind whether you're entertaining family or out on a date. Parking lot close by - it was very convenient.

The absolute BEST seafood in the Bay Area. Where else can you get lobster for $26.00??? It's fabulous! The oysters are delicious...never a bad one, the salmon is out of this world. My husband and I took his father there (who has travled all around the world and is very picky) he had to call the cook over to tell him that it's the BEST he's ever had. Fully recommend..you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu!
Pros: fresh seafood, exellent oysters, fresh lobster
Cons: at times crowded

Stopped at the Bold Knight for lunch today and had the California Steak Salad. This is a Ceaser Salad served with Chunks of London Broil on the side. This is a wonderful salad. The food was excellent. I was seated promptly and my waitress was very pleasant and charming. I received my food in a timely manner and the price was very reasonable. My only complaint was that I was too early for the Cheese Fondue (The Best in the Valley). I can't wait to go back for dinner to enjoy a great steak and the fondue.

My friend took me for dinner to Shalimar a few months back. The food was delectable. I had the buffet, a wonderful treat. Unfortunately the buffet is not offered in the evenings, except for Sundays and Tuesdays. The Manager gave us personal attention and charmed his way, recommending dishes. Chicken Vindaloo and Kadai Chicken have become my favorite. Seek Kabab is the best I have ever eaten. I have been eating Indian cuisine for now 20 years. I threw a party last week at Shalimar. They have a huge parking lot behind the restaurant, with a capacity for 100 cars. The fact that the parking was free and the location was right in downtown SJ was what made up our minds. Now I regularly have dinner at Shalimar, leave my car parked there and then go to the CPA or Camera 12 for some entertainment!! You cannot beat the convenience.
Pros: Great food, Ambience , Value
Cons: Buffets too popular
