Blue Mango has a huge variety of delicious items, including many vegetarian dishes! The simply vegetable soup (with silver noodles) is the most soothing, BEST soup I have ever had. Sweet potato sticks are just, uh, YUM! Bamboo mountain, with mushrooms, veggies, and tofu is out of this world. I might just have to go here every day and bring a container of the soup home!! The service is friendly, quick, and with smiles. I love this place!!
Pros: ALL good!
Cons: parking is a little tight

The area of town was being rejunvenated in July 2008 (when we were there), so it was a little hard to find Joe's through the scaffolding. But, don't give up - it's worth the search! This place has been around for years and has a very interesting history of once being a hangout for the San Francisco mob - there's a room upstairs that was used for meetings!! Read the menu - it has stories about the restaurant - and take a look at all the pictures on the walls - very cool! It's famous for a hash dish (it's great!!) - plain and simple, enjoyed by all, even the mobsters! Elegant ambiance, tuxedo-ed staff, excellent service, and great food! A little pricey, but that's the cost of notoriety! Really a fun place to eat!

I love Pizza Antica. My parents are from out of state and everytime they visit my mother will not leave without going! She gets some pizza w/ broccoli and its always really good! The pepperoni is popular everytime. I always get the chicken ceasar piadini... mmmmm.... I wish i still lived nearby I would be there now. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing dinner- this isnt it. The food takees awhile, and its always crowded (I usually opt for lunch time!), and its a ver casual setting... but with food that good its worth it! Its the only pizza I will eat outside of Chicago!
Pros: The FOOD!
Cons: the wait

Butternut squash ravioli, a hard thing to make but this place does it the best I have found. It's broken up with tomato sauce that breaks up the flavors enough to make it anything but mundane (as this dish can be without a savory break). A friend has had their Vodka pasta dish and loved it as well.
For the price the attentive service is what you's expect, they clean off the table, are evtremely attentive, serve you with their other hand behind the back, turn the plate just do the main part is in front of you. The desert crepes...yummy to the last bite!
This place is a splurge on my budget settings but certainly necessary treat to look forward to.
Pros: Everything on the Menu

My lawyer, Jeff L, kept telling me about this place so I had to check it out.
I was very impressed. Bella Mia is probably one of the biggest restaurants in Downtown San Jose.
Who ever designed this restaurant had very good (and expensive) taste. Lots of mahogany stained solid woods accented by heavy brass . I used to be in the restaurant biz so I can appreciate the beauty in a well designed eatery.
The menu is Italian and unlike most "cookie cutter" restaurants that are popular now, from what I learned on my visit, everything in the Bella Mia kitchen is made from scratch. The prices are fair for dining out with some very good filet steak specials on mid-week nights.
While looking over the menu, my usual aperitif, Compari and soda with a twist was served promptly in a heavy rocks glass.
As recommended by the waiter, I tried a new lunch item on the menu, the rib steak sandwich with garlic fries. Grilled on an open flame and placed inside soft garlic French bread. This was one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had and now I know where Gordon Biersch got the recipe for garlic fries. Try the fries with a side of ranch dressing dip and don't fill up on the warm foccacia bread and tasty cheesie spread before your meal arrives.
The espresso was served as it should be, rich, strong and creamy with a twist of lemon and raw sugar cubes...the best.
The service couldn't be any better for a Downtown restaurant.
I hear Bella Mia is famous for other dishes (scallopini and parmigiana) with many reviews and write-ups from critics.
"I'll be back soon"
Pros: Everything is made from scratch.
Cons: Parking in Downtown San Jose is the pits.

I remember when this restaurant was half the size it is now and was just making a name for itself. The food was excellent then as it still is now. The only difference is there is always a waiting list at dinner time now. Do not be afraid to order anything on the menu. It's all delicious!
Pros: one of the best pizza's in town
Cons: always a wait as this place is really popular with the locals

We are so lucky to have St.Peter among our neighborhood restaraunts. In a sea of mediocre restraunts St.Peter is godsend. The atmosphere is always freindly and the food consistently good. When not overly busy they are happy to create a dish that suits your fancy if you happen to be in the mood for something not on the evenings menu. We love it and dine at St.Peter weekly!

Wow... what can I say but that this is really great pizza. I had a simple pep and sausage pizza and man was it fantastic. The sauce is the best part though the cheese was a cut above as well. Whatever combination of herbs and spices they use gives the sauce a really fresh flavor that begs you to take another bite. The sausage was linguica style and very good. Most pizza sausage I swear is sliced up Jimmy Dean. The crust tasted lighter than a lot of other pizza places, many of which seem to overemphasize the density of the dough or use too much of it on balance with the rest of the pie. I love pizza (unfortunately) and in comparison most pizza is rather bland. Tony & Alba's pies are easily an order of magnitude superior to any pies I've had in recent memory. I ate at the Stevens Creek location, which had very good service. The location's decor, such as it, is very basic, and emphasizes the owners' Italian heritage. If you're in the area and are feeling the urge for a really good pizza, this is the place to go. A word of warning though: After eating here you'll be spoiled and will despise the bland Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa Murphy's, Wal-mart baked, etc. pies forever after.
Pros: Superb pizza; great, unique flavor and taste (in a positive way)
Cons: None that I could see.
