Deeply disappointing. We went there on a recent weekend night, the room was empty during prime hours, yet several servers, and another man that later told me he was the manager were standing around chatting. We were not seated for 8 minutes, I repeat 8 minutes, and they had only 3 tables. They had more employees standing around clueless than diners. Finally my girlfriend walked up to the so called manager, and asked to speak with a manager, he replied that he was the manager, and he asked how he can help. My girlfriend said we would like a table if you're not too busy. Here's the killer, he said oh' I didn't know you wanted to dine with us tonight. Is that incredible? What I want to know is what he thought we were doing there. Needless to say we had a lousy meal and time. Pros: none Cons: everything

Met friends there lastnight, sat indoors even though the patio had room. Service was slow to get drinks, but once engaged the staff was still slow, but better. Seems they are still working out some bugs but overall, a great experience. I pre-read the reviews before going and they have either adjusted the lighting or I'm missing something because it was fine, plenty of light - don't forget you can always ask the host/hostess to adjust temperature and lighting. The appetizers were just ok, the main dishes were better. The fish of the day, a halibut, was great, the chefs special sauce spectacular, prawns in mushroom sauce was a little heavy, and the spicy chili lobster was phenomenal - needed a side of rice to complement, but otherwise, very tasty. I think most of the food there is good and reasonably priced. We recently ate there. My family liked the Filet Mignon, rack of lamb, Zesty prawns and I like their jumbo size prawns (unlike other place where prawns are tiny). Their waiters are nice and friendly. You don't have to wait long for your food. IF you want good food and nice service. This is the place. Pros: good food, friendly waiters, fair price Cons: dim at night

First day of the spring, I was able to spend it with my girlfriend at the restaurant where we had our first dinner date. We've never had anything but an incredible experience there, and I'm sure it will continue to provide us with brief but fulfilling escapes. It is truly a gem in the city. Cozy, comfortable, easy, moderately priced, good service, great food, and with a modest but wonderful wine selection. Wonderful French cuisine with a touch of Vietnamese. I know, French restaurants are a dime a dozen, but you wont find a Mediterranean crab or creamy pasta with shrimps within a mile of this place, especially with a French professional waiter helping you find what youre craving. An unexpected surprise. I work by the SJ airport and have always visited downtown SJ for lunch. On the way to Chicken Coop I noticed the place with a huge patio on the corner of San Pedro & decided to come back for dinner with a co-worker. Tried the special, half a garlic roasted butter crab and steak, fantastic! The best surf & turf i've ever tasted. Highly recommended! Great price, was $25 each. Unbeatable in the bay area, you'll have to drive to SF southern california to get that price. Pros: food, food, food Cons: lighting

i love seafood so thought i'd give this restaurant a try. the cracked black pepper crab was excellent! the pepper sauce had an asian twist but matched extremely well with the natural sweetness of the crab. the crab was definitely fresh and they plate you a WHOLE crab. i also ordered the crab salad. it came with a mound of fresh crab meat and could have been a meal in itself! overall, i would highly recommend this restaurant to seafood lovers, especially those partial to crab. I was hoping to use this location for our wedding. It took me 4 calls before someone finally called me back. Never gave me rates in writing like I requested. Showed up late to meet with us and tried to change the prices to the most expensive menu they had. They just opened, don't have the experience or reputation to charge these prices. Wasted my time. Beautiful patio for parties. Just wished it was occupied by a more attentive business. Horrible service. Didn't want to even waste my time trying their food.
