When my wife transmission would slip out of gear, we took it into AVT. Not only did they fix the problems at a decent price. When it came time for me to pick up the car, I was stuck in traffic and running late and they wanted until i got there before they closed. Talk about going beyond the call of duty, excellent customer service!

I've tried this place once and my car came out sparkly clean, but i wouldn't recommend this place if you are low on cash. It is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to car washing. Though I must admit, they did the best car washing I've seen throughout my whole life.

In January & February, while on vacation in California, it was necessary for me to cut the trip short due to death of a family member. On Feb. 5th on my drive back home, my car transmission broke down near San Jose, and I had the car towed and along the way we saw the Tranny Man shop, so arranged for them to replace the transmission at a cost of $1800.00, per invoice # 6033. I was impressed with the tidiness of their shop and assurances that their written and verbal 1 (one)yr, 12,000 mile warranty, given by the manager, Frank Martinez, would be honored even if the work had to be done at a distant shop, recognizing that I travelled and didn't live in the area. In subsequent telephone conversations with Frank, he reiterated that they would promptly honor the warranty by arrangements with a shop in the area where the failure occurred. As of July 23rd, the transmission has an internal problem with a bad shudder and slippage in the drive gears, confirmed by a reputable transmission shop in my home city, which problem they confirmed in a phone conversation with Frank. The cost to repair it would be a minimum of $1500 and maximum of $1890. I suggested that The Tranny Man pay the minimum and I'd pay any cost above that amount. Frank advised me that they would only honor the warranty if the car was brought to their shop, which, as he knows, is not possible as it is not drivable for any distance. So, they are not honoring their warranty commitment to have the repair done wherever it occurred, as understood, when they did the work. My mistakes were that I didn't check with the the local Business Bureau first and didn't take the car to an ATRA accredited shop - not thinking clearly under my personal circumstances. It's a big let-down for a Canadian visitor.
Complaint filed with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair and the local Business Bureau, San Jose, which advised this shop has an unfavorable record.
Pros: Clean shop
Cons: Untidy waiting area and washroom. Do not honor their warranty.

They keep in good communication to allow their customers to know exactly what is wrong with their cars. In addition, their pricing is very fair. Unlike most other car places, they discuss the prices with you before you get anything serviced on your car.

Went to almost 10 dealers in the BAy area for a toyota corolla for my cousin and this guy came out to be the best in terms of service, inventory and price. After confirming the rate with them, I called 2 different toyota's to see if they will match the price, both of them refused...these guys are really good and have amazing deals.
