Dollar rentals on Wednesday. And they let you keep 'em for a while if they’re not new releases. Whatever rental places you’re a member of, you should add this one to your portfolio, because those dollar rental days are a huge boon to your entertainment budget. One of the better stores in the city in terms of selection too – the regular stuff and also, foreign, music movies, obscure flicks… makes a great supplement to a Netflicks subscription...

I very very rarely can't find some movie that I read about, or heard about from some obsure source. They've got it. They always have biscuits for your doggie. To boot, Jello Biafra can be seen walking about, before checking out Flashdance. Don't go in expecting a corporate, nationwide selection of general titles you could find at any chain store across the country (though there's some of these in the new releases section).

I have gone to Lost Weekend many a time and have only been unsatisfied 2 times and that was because something was wrong with a movie. When I told them this I was allowed to see if they had the same movie in stock or I could pick up another movie. Overall the were very helpful. It is a nice atmosphere and I can not see how you could not enjoy it. The only way that that could happen is if you are not open minded and have no life of your own.
Pros: Inexpensive, Uncrowded, Polite
Cons: Semi-difficult to fin

5 things that Lost Weekend has that your videostore doesn't have.
-- All of Altman's out-of-print-yet-still-awesome 80's output.
-- A section dedicated to -- and including all of -- the Criterion Collection.
-- A deep and abiding love of baseball.
-- A copy of Robert Franks' underground Stones bio-ish-thing, Cocksucker Blues.
-- Rock and Roll, man.
I love them with my guts.

Owned by one of the nicest guys you will meet in the business, Lost Weekend has been filling a need in the Mission for a number of years now -- a video rental place first and foremost, but also one that understands the tastes and interests of its clients. Plenty of first run mainstream movies to satisfy some tastes but even more niche genres, classic TV series, directors' series, and so on. If you can't find it here, you probably can't find it

If you're looking for a hard to find video, try looking here. They've got all sorts of movies, and also have a great selection of international films. The staff is also very helpful. I come here quite often since its so close to home, so they know me by now and recommend films that they think I like. So far, they haven't been wrong.

Located on Valencia street this store remains my favorite video rental spot in the mission. The selection is pretty good. I enjoy the fact they have a section organized by director. They still stock a large number of VHS titles, although the DVD selection is coming along nicely too. However, it is a little too busy, often times I find what I'm looking for is out. Perhaps they should stock more of title in high demand.
PROS: Good Selection. For film buffs.
CONS: too crowded.
