So I go into this guy's record store. I browse around and find a REALLY cool CD. When I bring it up to the counter, the owner's eyes get REALLY big. Guess he didn't know he had this CD among his inventory. And he suddenly didn't want to sell it to me! But he doesn't tell me he didn't want to sell it to me; he PRETENDS that the wrong CD was in the jewel box. BUT I SAW THAT THE CORRECT CD WAS IN THE JEWEL BOX. He LIED right to my face and wouldn't sell it to me. What a terrible way to run a business. I will NEVER buy anything from him. Too bad, because I was seriously considering a major purchase (he also sells musical instruments, and I was very close to pulling out my credit card to buy a bass guitar). But now he gets NOTHING. His loss. A "businessman" like this should go out of business. Avoid. Pros: None I can think of. Cons: OPERATED BY A LIAR Who LIES to his customers. Lousy selection of overpriced junk. Cramped.

Weird and wonderful out-of-print vinyl treasures and vintage instruments, served up with a dash of offbeat personality. Kim Cooper
on 08-13-2003
The Scene
This archetypal collector's record and music gear store is unassumingly tucked into a quiet North Beach side street. The edgy proprietor bustles frantically, one minute ensuring his highly personal alphabetizing scheme is in order, then hauling out a huge vintage speaker cabinet to show a customer. The vinyl, cassettes and few CDs are well-organized, but be careful the hundreds of records in the loft don't pin you inside next time a temblor hits.
The Goods
Scarce vinyl oddities abound, ranging from Merseybeat cash-in discs like "The Baroque Beatles Book" to bootlegs by Men at Work and Cat Stevens. The stock is especially strong in post-punk 12-inch singles (all the Smiths and Sisters of Mercy your little gothic heart desires), '60s soul/jazz, early '70s prog and pop and collector faves Zappa, the Dead, Pink Floyd and the Velvet Underground. Prices range from $10 to $60 and higher for serious rarities.
