Discount Fabrics does exactly what its store name advertises: sell fabrics for really, really good prices. What's more, there are tons of different types of fabrics to choose from, and even fabrics that come in hard to find and are not not as often sold colors will be available for your picking. The only problem is that some of the fabric may not be of the utmost highest quality, so it may be a good idea to be a bit cautious about what you buy.

This is a great place to find cheap fabric. It has a fantastic selection - I've gotten faux fur of all kinds, crazy silver and blue stretchy fabric, and fantastic corduroys from there. One word of caution - not all the fabric is of particularly high quality, so some of it may deteriorate rather quickly if you wear and wash hard. There are a few locations throughout San Francisco and Berkeley. There's also the fabric store further down on Mission (and 20th, perhaps?) and another Discount Fabrics in SOMA.

This place as everything you need for a DIY sewing project. This is like a meg-mart of fabric, with aisle after aisle of bolts of fabric. Solids, stripes, polka dots, retro dsigns, wool, animal prints, silk, satin cotton, you name it, it's there. The price is good and the staffs are helpful

I have this chair in my house that I am compelled to constantly re-cover. Discount Fabrics on Haight has been my number one craft stop for years. Need a piece of pink fur for a Halloween costume? They have it and you probably will pay pennies for it. Need ribbon or trim? How about updating an old shirt with new buttons? You may have to dig a bit, but it is usually worth it. Staff is helpful, make sure and check out the remnants. Currently my chair is covered with a mustard and red fabric. If you look closely, you will see that the red print is actually monkeys with their tails hooked together. Thanks Discount Fabrics.
