Scene: Day: Wednesday Time: Around 11pm in the evening Where: Around Polk St/Nob Hill/Russian Hill State: Sober/Buzzed With: Date/buddy/group of friends Wants: Gather around for a dinner or have a late night glass of wine in a chill atmosphere My recommendation for a great neighborhood spot that is "typical San Francisco" would be The Bell Tower 1900 Polk and Jackson Awesome spot with a great bar, food is served till very late and it's just an overly great kick-back kind of a place, especially on a Wednesday night. It's in a sleeping residential neighborhood, so there is nothing really around but if you are looking for that kind of thing to have a nice conversation or a beer or are craving some good burgers and fries in a very bar-ish environment, it's all you. Not really a sports bar and not really a hot spot - just a chill bar with good food, more on the classier side; good outside seating with not too much foot traffic. Went there on WEdnesday and loved it!
