A few friends and I tried Sauce the other night because we live in/near the neighborhood and were curious about the new kid on the block. What a great call! Sauce has warm and inviting atmosphere, great cocktails, really good food, and some of the friendliest service I have experienced in a long time -the chef and the manager/owner both stopped by our table to chat and thank us for stopping by. I love the fact that Sauce serves food late night too - we need more restaurants doing that in SF! I highly recommend the meatloaf and the decadent mac and cheese.
Pros: Tasty comfort food, Warm atmosphere, Full bar!
Cons: Decor could be hipper

Was looking for a place close to Davies symphony hall, and sauce was highly recommended by friends. Enjoyed all the food that I tried, including the savory tomato soup/grilled cheese, mushroom fries, clam chowder, and crab wontons! I wanted to make it to the main course, but we absolutely stuffed ourselves with appetizers. But we kept room for desert, and thoroughly enjoyed the cinnamon doughnuts (awesome) and the PBJ! The wait staff was warm and comforting, the wine was superb, and the food rocked.
Pros: Great food, Close to Van Ness, Ambience
Cons: Seemed empty on a Fri

I guess you have to be apart of a select group to get any real service at this place. Our table was pretty much a distraction to the obvious pals of the restaurant staff who accounted for the audience majority. Sorry we crashed your party... Food was a little bland and on the chilly side; it was nearly impossible to get a drink. We regret not walking out.

Went to Sauce to meet a couple of friends for drinks and dinner. We had heard about it from friends who went to a holiday party there and had to check it out -- you never know if the holiday party reviews were just booze induced. Not so at all. The bartender was awesome, serving up margaritas from scratch. The chef came to our table twice during the night - and his PBJ dessert is a MUST HAVE. We were blown away and left feeling like we knew a lot of people there. Excellent.

the food is classy, with a comfort food feeling, and you get huge portions. the dining area is soft and pleasant, and the lounge area in the back is draped in red velvet with plenty of couches and cushions... perfect for hanging out with your friends. the waitstaff and management are attentive, but not intrusive at all, like some restaurants where they're coming to your table every 2 minutes. and, their desserts are to die for....
Pros: central location, 2 bar areas, great desserts

The moment you walk through the door it begins, Sauce is not just a restaurant..its one of those rare San Francisco experiences you cant find anywhere else. The atmosphere sublime, the front and back bars perfect for dining, a pre-dinner drink or a large event. The chef prepares food as unique and delicious as the name would suggest..this from a sauce lover and hedonist. Go Sauce!

If you've never tried Chef Ben's crab wontons or portabello mushroom fries, you're totally missing out. If you've never had the meatloaf, you don't know what your life is missing! Awesome atmostphere, fun and funky, just like my friends. They were really great about share plates, too, a bunch of us ordered a ton of appetizers (at 12:15am!) and just shared them around. So much fun!
Pros: Good Parking, Fun atmosphere, Great Cocktails
