The 3 stars come from the atmosphere. It is really fun to be at Emmy's. The staff is friendly and "hip" and they always play great music in there. The spaghetti and meatballs are fair. The meatballs are on the verge of being ammunition for a small canon but its ok. The sauce is good. Wine list is ok. Beer are in bottles. The Cucumber martini's not so good.
The food is not that spectacular but I'd go back for the fun atmostphere.

I love this place, though I think it’s a bit of a misguided concept. Late night spaghetti. Oh, it’s such good spaghetti and meatballs, like, everything you’d hope it might be if you ever ordered it in a restaurant instead of making it at home. And it’s one of the only non Mexican/el Salvadorian restaurants open late. But who wants spaghetti late at night? Ok, that’s kind of a narrow minded take on the place. But that’s the space I’m in when, at night’s end, I've found myself here...

My wife initially heard about this restaurant on the Food Network and wondered why we never heard of this place despite living in the Bay Area. Upon entry it certainly appeared to be a 'shack'. There were clotheslines hanging strange-looking garments and cheesy wall art. It was definitely a homestyle place with comfort food - for the most part. Our waitress told us that portions were big and that we would have a hard time finishing an entree of their specialty - spaghetti with meatballs. We heeded her advice and opted to get 1 order of spaghetti with meatballs and begin our meal with the seared scallops appetizer. The scallop dish had to be one of the biggest rip-offs I've experienced in a restaurant in a long time. For $8.50 you get 3 measly - and I mean MEASLY scallops sitting in a pool of cream sauce. I suppose it's meant to be haute cuisine but it didn't really match the atmosphere of the restaurant. However, the spaghetti with meatballs for $9.50 was definitely sizeable but not far too much for 1 person. We felt sufficiently full by the end of our meal - perhaps because we asked for several plates of bread. Well, for $23 with tax and tip, it was a good meal.
