This place seemed to have allure, but we should have realized why it was always empty. The service was horrible and food way subpar! We ordered a nice white wine and she didn't bring a bucket of ice to keep it cool. Upon asking, she literally brought out a bucket filled with an inch of water, bottle standing up inside...what!? The "pan con tomate" was exactly that, sliced bread w/ tomato (no flavor). The shrimp could have been frozen. The meatballs were ok, but i think the sauce was a Lipton packet. Don't waste your money.
Pros: Good Music
Cons: Food, Service, Overpriced

My experience at ANju's was blatantly violated by their attempt of passing fried rice off for a palatable & savory dish such as Paella. The ingredients used in the seafood dishes seemed like they were taken from the freezer, thawed in the microwave, braised in salt, then brought to the firing line for us to eat. My boyfriend & I had to order two additional glasses of wine to dump into the 'so-called sangria (fruit juice)' to place us in delirium for the disappointing food. The whole "Spanish-Korean" style theme was a joke, considering only one dish on the menu that was Korean. Anju has potential; if actually they MADE the dishes listed on the menus. I would never discount a restaurant's credibility based entirely on one visit, however this first & last experience was simply enough to know never, ever to pay $25 for LOUSY fried rice.
Pros: Somewhat Artsy
Cons: Insipid Appetizers, Salty Entrees, Short Staffed

Alright, I dont want this to be a long story but I just moved to the neighborhood a couple weeks ago and well, it's not easy. I was just passing by the other night and saw they were playing some type of indie films later on in the evening on Monday and decided to stop in. The staff was great, the food was superb and the people were friendly. I just want to say thanks and I'll definately be seeing you guys soon...

We were surprised at how salty, heavy and overdone the dishes were. All six items we tried were bad- at least there was a Ben and Jerry's in the Macy's on Union Square. Service was also terrible. We had to ask for our check several times and werent even offered an apology when the waitress spilled water on us while pouring glasses! Cant think of a restaurant in the city I am in less of a hurry to return to.
Cons: Poor service, Bad Food!

Based on OpenTable review, two of us dined pre-theater at Anju on 6/17/05. It's in a run-down, seamy neighborhood, which could be overcome by proximity to theaters, but the restaurant itself is rundown and seamy. Furnishings are seedy, worn, cheap; place needs paint job inside, decorations are amateurish and not attractive. Food mediocre at best, grossly overpriced for portion and quality.
Pros: good service
Cons: seedy, poor ambience, poor value

I was walking by on Taylor Street and saw I this really cool window display. They were projecting an old Picasso DVD I remember from art school on to a translucent curtain for their front window. I walked in and had a great time. Very personable waitresses that got my food to me in a reasonable manner I guess. But the cool part was all the cool artists and what not. It's like they were trying to keep it a secret or something. I highly recommend!
Pros: Great Food, Ambiance, Lost of Seating
Cons: Parking

This place has a ton of potential, but our experience was terrible! We ordered a number of dishes in phases, and our waitress never cleared our empty plates until we were almost done with the next dish. They were out of the bottle of wine we wanted, which with a 20 bottle wine list at a new resturant should not happen. One of the dishes we ordered was a potato gratin, which was ice cold. When we told the waitress about this, she offered to discount it. When someting is wrong like that you should take the dish away immediately (it was left on our table) and offer another one or someting else entirely, not just a discount (we should not have had to pay for it at all). Other dishes were ok, but the service is terrible and with just average food, I would not reccommend Anju.
Pros: original artwork, inexpensive
Cons: bad service, average food
