This place is one great time. A singles "market", but I went with my boyfriend and we both loved it. Lots of buzz, fabulous wine list including several by the glass, and wonderful, delicious food. There is no hostess - seating is all first come, first served. I highly recommend the tempura spicy albacore tuna rolls, the prosciutto san daniele and arugula hand rolls with goat cheese and fig jam and the morroccan lamb meatballs. For desert, don't pass up the warm sultana spice bread pudding with brandy carmel sauce. To die for. Order 3-4 things to share with your date or friend, and you are set. Servers, all male, are on top of it and extremely knowledgable. Pros: Food, Wine, Service Cons: Parking

According to our bartender, their resident wine director buys out an entire years of any particular wine that she falls in love with, so many of the labels are exclusive to District. Tasting flights come in thoughtful combinations like "Bubbles Around The World", or "Oak vs Stainless". We started off with an "Aromatic Whites" flight, mussels w/ Pernod cream, and truffled hamachi tartare w/ uni sauce. Moved on to a "Spices & Berries" flight, juicy lamb meatballs, and capered beef carpaccio. Killer. We made the mistake of trying to eat here the night of a Giants game, and had to drive around the block 5 times before we found parking, but we're glad we stuck with it. We had unknowingly come on the last night they would be open on a Sunday, and were surprised at how comfortably empty the place was. Had our choice of seating, but decided it would be more fun to sit at the bar. They will be closed on Sundays from now on and opening up on Mondays along with every other day of the week, during which I'm told it can get really crowded, so come early. Six glasses later I set a goal to eventually taste every wine on the menu but found out from our bartender Danny that not only does the menu change daily, they are also working on a cellar that will soon stash an additional 600 bottles. This place is fun, and portions are generous enough to share so bring friends. They print new menus everyday so don't be shy about asking to take a copy home if its towards the end of service. You're going to want to google your favorite wine as soon as you get home. If you're lucky you'll find a place that actually sells it. Pros: food & wine, atmosphere Cons: parking

Nothing special about these bottles of wine that are marked up to waay expensive. The food is less then inspiring. My boyfriend and I had the pot de creme. . .since when is chocolate creme grainy? YUCK! Have someone taste it before you serve it to the public and get a whiplash from comments. A wannabe bar for wannabe people. I find more character in my little miniature dachshund then this barbie and ken malibu play house.

This is such a great addition to the neighborhood! I went with some friends for our "girls night out" and we settled into some wine tasting flights. As a Pinot lover, I was happy to see there was a flight just for me, the "Pinot Lovers Unite" flight. Friends got the "Bubbles Around the World," a sparkling wine flight, and the "Big Funky Reds" flight. We also ordered a few snacks, which turned into a meal's worth once we tasted the food! The three of us shared the smoked gouda and gruyere fondue (mmm I'm also a cheese lover!), prosciutto rolled up with goat cheese and tangy fig jam, a beautiful carpaccio, and endive with gorgonzola. Wow this stuff was sooo good with the wines. We topped it off with chocolate potde creme and key lime tart. I went home very happy!

My partner and I visited District for the first time on Friday, Feb 23rd and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We found the service to be exceptional, the stemware spotless(i'm a bit nerotic about this!), and the tasting flights both excellent and educational. Oh yeah, the food was great too! We tried the spicy hamachi sashimi with the "aromatics" wine flight. It was truly fantastic, we especially enjoyed the nelson riesling which didn't overpower the hamachi and has a bit of sweetness that paired well with the spicyness of our dish. We also tried the "great whites" flight and although not as impressive as the aromatics, we appreciated being able to try wines that we had never heard of before. In fact, the diversity of the wine list is one of District's strong points. One other thing we noticed about the wines is how much difference the tasting order makes. I highly recommend trying your wines in more that one order and with and without food. Have fun!! Pros: wine list, service Cons: white wine was served a bit cold

Bob and I had dinner at District last night. It was a wonderful experience. The bartender, Matt, was appropriately attentive, quick to suggest pairings ... but not pushy. And, he was very cute as were all the staff. We asked a question he didn't know the answer to. Instead of guessing, he said "I don't know, but the sommelier will." In just a few minutes she was there answering our question. Chris (owner) stopped by to chat (we were the only geezers in the place, so he was probably curious) and we loved his enthusiasm and obvious pride of place. The food was delicious (olives, hamachi, calamari and chocolate creme dessert). The wines were good, and we especially enjoyed being able to choose several single glasses of wine with the various foods. I loved the Schramsberg Sparkling Wine with the olives. Only disappointment was the Nelson (Norman?) Riesling. We found it to be a little blah. We love good German Rieslings, dry but full of spice and flavor. The place was of full of customers, all of whom appeared happy to be there, but service was still fast and attentive. Bob noticed that in spite of the room being full of chatty people, the acoustics were such that we weren't distressed by too much noise. We could talk in a normal tone of voice, something lacking in a lot of restaurants, even the most upscale.
