I've eaten there a few times. Everytime I think it'll be different, and every time I am disappointed. The drinks are great--nice and strong. The steak is subpar, gave me heartburn. The prime rib was just OK. The bread is always cold. Izzy's own potatoes are very tasty. I like those. The calamari is alright. I've had better.

I have found that the ambiance, service and the food are well worth the price. The steaks are cooked as ordered and most can be cut with a butter knife. The taste is great but don't go without having "Izzy's Potatoes". They are to die for. If you have tried Ruths Chris, Mortons and the like, you will without a doubt find Izzy's as good or better.

I have been frequenting Izzy's for well over 7 years and have never, NEVER had a bad meal or experience. Within the walls of this establishment are great steaks served by real steakhouse waiters. I have a feeling the few negative reviews on this site are posted by folks more excited by French-Asian fusion or a large block of tofu than by a real quality steak served by a waiter in a white shirt and black tie. For an excellent meal for under $20 try the skirt steak with Izzy's potatoes and creamed spinach. MMMMMMMMM! P.S. the bartenders are some of the best around and not afraid to pour a heavy drink.
Forget the $50+ steaks at Harris, Ruth's Kris and the like. Izzy's has the best steaks in SF for the $$$.
