I took my best friend for her birthday - and was very dissapointed. I would expect a place with "steak" in their name to be able to cook my meat as requested - medium rare. I actually sent it back the first time because it was well done (no pink at all!!!) and traded with my friend the second time because the steak was so rare. Waitress was rude and service was terrible. I would never go back. Pros: nice area of city, prices Cons: service, food, attitude of staff

Wish they aged the steaks longer than the week or so that they do...but they're still better than every other steak in the city except Bobo's--That's "good enough" because the price, service, ambience, the vibe, and other food more than make up for my "Russian Judge's" 9.7 score on the "American" steak. The food is amazing at Izzy's. It has that steakhouse feel with booths available. This is the type of restaurant that gives you a smile from being so full from such good food. It's a great place for a birthday dinner, or a date that doesn't require a completely quite ambiance. Parking can be a real problem, if you can't take a cab there, I highly recommend leaving early to give yourself time to circle. If you are a "steak and potatoes" fan this is a spot for you! Whenever anyone asks me where I want to go eat in San Francisco, it seems I always respond "Izzy's". I have been coming to Izzy's for probably 15 years and still rate it tops. The steaks are ALWAYS tender and juicy, the bartenders know their business, and the crowd is usually upbeat and fun. In addition to the steaks, you have to try the "Izzy's Potatoes", their version of augratin, and the creamed spinich. They are as good as it gets!! Izzy's is a true San Francisco establishment. Once inside, its hard to tell if it is 1904 or 2004. The place is comfortable, old San Francisco... small, a bit noisy, but a lot of fun. In case you can't tell, I LIKE Izzy's! Pros: Excellent Steaks, Excellent Drinks, Old SF atmosphere
