This little shop in Chinatown is great! They have the biggest woks I have ever seen, 32 inches in diameter! I loved exploring this little store in the heart of Chinatown. They have great prices (the 32" wok costs only $125), and unique items. They also have products available on their website (wokshop.com) for those who can't get to San Francisco. The staff was very friendly. I was so dissapointed that I have no use for a 32" wok, otherwise I would have definitely purchased one!

Good: David Furukawa-Chen is one of the most knowledgeable proprietors of Japanese art, tea and prized Hagi ware. His friendliness will have you cmoing back to learn more about Japan and tea.. Bad: Japantown mall is a very busy place, but you won't have to wade far to get to his store.. Improvements: He just opened a website for more people to understand the background behind tea and Japanese tea ceremonies. I hope to see more of his professional artwork online soon..

I was in Sedona Arizona this weekend, eating at a fancy French restaurant. Someone ordered the cheese plate. Good choice. All sorts of high-class fromage from around the world. The one California offering was from Cowgirl Creamery, which is some indication of the growing popularity of this Artisan Cheese Shop. A visit to their retail store is an inspiring experience - and educational as well, since they'll let you sample all their offerings, which also include some very upscale yogurt and other specialties. One of the most unique things here is a homemade paneer which should kick your Indian cooking up a few notches.
