Found a blonde hair in my food (mine is black). Not expected from any restaurant, let alone a "high end" restaurant. Food wasn't good enough to justify us going back.

This is what comes to mind when you think of a world-class dining experience.
I went here for drinks and dessert the other night and everything was fantastic. It's certainly a 'culinary experience'. The food is highly conceptual and experimental but executed well. By conceptual, I mean lots of foams, textures, presentation, and interesting flavor combinations (think basil sorbet).
The space blends industrial features with a streamlined 50's-inspired aesthetic. Prices are moderate to high but totally worth it. This place is pretty classy but not intimidating or rude as some fine dining can be. Our waitress was extremely nice and helpful even though we were just having dessert.
Definitely worth checking out!
They also have a cafe that's open during the day next door. It's kind of equidistant from Embarcadero and Montgomery BART stations.

A beautiful restaurant, very nicely designed, and we've always liked the service. We have noticed a bit of a falling off on the food, however, particularly (during each of our last couple of visits), the hamburger, which used to be much better. Prices for food and wine are outstanding.

About the food: absolutely hands down the best restaurant in San Francisco, now I know why Sean O'Brien was selected as one of The Best New Chef's in Food and Wine Magazine July issue. His food is delicate and complex; the sweet breads with bacon are the best I have ever had. His relaxed approch allows him to serve hamburgers as well as black cod with maitakes, salsify and bacon jus. I cannot wait to go back to Myth.

Our party of 7 had very good service (the Hostess was a cold fish, but passable), unlike others - I had been warned the service was not good. That wasn't our experience.
however, the food was extremely average at best. The sweetbreads were totally devoid of taste and the entree of scallops was no better.
The portions were so small as to be amusing: we felt like we were in a movie where pretentious diners pretend not to notice that they were still hungry at the end of the meal (and we were). Each course suffered from the lack of any attempt at volume: The $9 ice cream dessert had the tiniest of scoops imaginable and 2 of the smallest cookies in the history of cookies (both together would not constitute an average bite - it must be difficult to bake something that small without burning it).
The wine (a Fench Pinot Noir) was excellent - much better than the glasses it was served in.
All of us felt the same way: we might not have minded the $800+ cost IF the food was the least bit remarkable - but it wasn't (the pizza was the best thing we tasted - it was good). Everything was well-cooked....it's just that most items lacked any taste (and size).
The overall impression was that it just wasn't worth the trouble of getting reservations for mediocre food and a meal where we were all still hungry at the end. There are just too many good restaurants in San Francisco that are much, much better to bother going back.
Pros: nice looking place
Cons: relatively tasteless food in tiny , tiny portions

So for all the local buzz about how unbelievable Myth is, well, I discovered over the weekend that such talk is mythical. the food was good, but nothing to rave about. The peeky toe crab salad was uninspiring, the oysters were described by the waitstaff as being special only for the sauce and the asparagus salad good. On the entree front, the quail stuffed with cornbread were a disappointment; the corn bread was a overly moist blob with nothing but a heavy starchy flavor. The scallops were quite good as was the wine list. Waitstaff needs help; they try and clear meals too quickly... for example, when you are not finished eating!
The space is pleasant and not too noisy so conversation is easy without having to strain. The tableware is problematic. There is not a flat surface anywhere on the edge of the funky organically shaped china, so resting a fork or knife on an edge, out of the food, quickly results in a slip either into the food or onto the table. Come on folks..let's not make the china and flatware a challenge to use!
All in all, I felt our dinner, while enjoyable, was nothing unique and hardly worthy of the near mythical accolades others have accorded the venue.

Loved this place! I finally got to try it out this past weekend and it definitely did not disappoint! From my rock shrimp poke, to the seared scallops with pureed potatoes, to my chocolate cake with bananas, macadamia nuts and vanilla ice cream! Everything was delicious! I also loved the atmosphere, the decor...and the servers/waiters were pretty attentive. We had 3 different people coming up to us asking if how things were. Our main waiter kind of disappeared for a few minutes there towards the end, but overall it was a great dinner/night out.
They also have some yummy cocktails. I went in craving a key lime-ish martini, and low and behold...they had one. It's called Calypso's Kiss. Yum!!
Pros: The food, the decor, the service.
Cons: None that I can think of.
