I love this place. They have really good submarine sandwiches. They put this secret sauce on the sandwiches that is to die for. Not only that, but they toast the bread so when you eat it, it is best to eat there. It is a small place but there are usually a couple of seats to sit at. It is also a good price! I would highly recommend this place.

Go here for brunch, its awesome. The ricotta pancakes are amazing! They are sweet and fluffy. The staff gets you in and out in a hurry. Use the little pad at the front to put your name down, and stand around on the corner enjoying the morning.

You think espresso or cappuccino when you pass by here, but they have good food too (without the hassle of a wait). Their long-time employees provide excellent service, and they don't mind if you get a cup of coffee and stay for a couple of hours. The owner is often sitting at one of the tables.
Unlike their neighbors, Caffe Greco, they roast their own coffee. (I buy their beans regularly.) Their coffees and their Italian sodas are among the best one can find in the US. The walls have a lot of Giacomo Puccini, who's from owner Graziano's hometown (Lucca) in Italy. The outdoor seating is great for people-watching and stealing a smoke. :-)
I have not tried all of their food (their do have a long menu for a coffee-shop), but I would mention the following specially:
pasta with mushroom sauce; eggplant lasagna; crisp foccacia with smoked salmon, mozzarella and capers; all of their specialty sandwiches; affogato (get it with gelato instead of ice-cream), tiramisu, Italian flan,...
The SF Chronicle rated Caffe Puccini's pasta among the top three in San Francisco, in their quest to find the best pasta.
Pros: Own coffee beans, good food for a coffee-house or restaurant
Cons: Parking, as with any place on Columbus Avenue

Most of the restaurants in chinatown have become too touristy for my liking, but this place has stayed the same. it's a small chinese cafe that serves porridge, chow fun, and baked goods. i recommend their sponge cake which is baked into a coffee filter cup. egg tarts are always good too.

wow , this may be one of my favorite places to eat lunch and quick dinner!!Everything was beyond great. I had chicken with potatoes for lunch and combination pizza for dinner. Portico restaurant serve the best rottisserie chicken and pizza in SF.

What a beautiful little patio deck in the back. Breakfast is the only time i've been here and not on the weekends. I love their french toast! They are kind and friendly. The back patio is quiet a lovely place to have any meal, nice days are a must. I've brought friends form out of town here, they all love it ;)

King Foot always hits the spot - the roast beef with everything plus avocado and pepperoncinis - toasted - is one of my own personal comfort foods. This little hole in the wall has provided me with many great lunches (and dinners!) And their consistency is amazing - one of my favorite things about King Foot is that no matter who makes the sandwich, you can always count on it to come out exactly the same each time. Mmmm.

Best Pho in the city - the freshest and friendliest Pho house in San Francisco. It costs twice as much as your average Pho house, but its at least 3 times better. I have had every item on the menu, Pho and non-Pho, meat and vegan, and there is no weak item on the menu. The vegan items are as flavorful as the meat dishes, including the Pho. The service is attentive and always very friendly, but could still be improved. Excellent beverages including a wine list that is about half price of what it should be and great beers and tea. For the price, you will find it hard to beat the value of this great restaurant.
Pros: Excellent Food, wine list and warm friendly environment.
Cons: The bar is not as robust as it could be.
