My wife and I arrived at 5:10 pm for the first time on a Friday night and was greeted as though we were a "regular" and were seated promptly. We laughed when we sat down because my wife and I both thought the greeter had mistaken us for someone else. There were only 3 tables open when we got there. The server was efficient but was clearly busy trying to get everyone's orders taken and served. The customers seem to come in waves and there are many customers starting to pile up waiting. My advice is to go early. I'm talking 5 pm or earlier. I had the abalone and my wife had crab cakes. My meal was delicious and clearly fresh. The crab cakes tasted a little too salty for our taste but otherwise was quite good. Overall, it was just a nice night out at a decent restaurant in the neighborhood.
Pros: Fresh food, Friendly service.
Cons: Parking can be tough

Was a cold December day before Christmas eve, arrived at 4:30 for the 5PM opening and already a line was forming. Our party of three was lucky: we were the last ones seated. Pacific Cafe is small if cozy. We were seated immediately, last table available and went through the menu. The specials were written hastily on the blackboard above the kitchen. Bring your glasses! Great white wine, free while we waited. Would have been a shorter wait between ordering and being served if there were more than one waiter waiting tables. Hopefully this will change. My calimari steaks were mild, fresh. My brother enjoyed his meal and Father had his shrimp. Your choice of red potatoes, rice or french fries. My rice was cooked just right. The Cranberry Walnut Torte is to die for. Staff were friendly. On leaving, lots of joyful people with red wine glasses in their hands. Outside, long line of hopefuls staring at you through that big glass plate. Cold winter's night, but cozy. Would recommend.
Pros: Great meals, good selection, free wine
Cons: Parking, waiting to be serviced took 30 minutes.

Over thirty years ago an older woman in white gloves sitting on a bar stool next to me at Tadich Grill advised that the only way to eat fish was undressed. What did I know, I just got here from Cleveland? What terrific advice. If there's one thing you can count on at Pacific Cafe is that the fish will be fresh. Their recommendations for the day combined with their simplest preparations always have been a winner. Add a few capers perhaps, a little wasabi butter and that wondeful bread. I can't prepare this meal at home for the price and why would I bother? I feel like family when eating here. I hope it lasts forever,
Pros: Consistenly fresh food and a long time, freindly efficient staff.
Cons: Too bad they let the tourists know about it but the wine is a good distraction.

You put your name down on the clipboard get your complimentary glass of wine and mingle with the other seafood lovers on the sidewalk it could be a cold and lengthy wait. Pacific Cafe is a cozy local’s hangout that serves only the freshest seafood. There is a large specials board with the evening’s offerings that will guarantee you're in for a delicious meal. When you finally nab a table with your complimentary wine in hand, you'll find fresh cut lemons on the table and a basket of incredibly fresh Boudin Sourdough with enough butter to get you well on your way to a heart-attack. All seafood entrées included a cup of soup (never tried it) or a choice of house salads (choose the Louie w/bay shrimps practically a meal in itself). As for entrées there are many to recommend but if the Grilled (scampi sized) Prawns are on the menu…..ORDER THEM! The wait-staff is very friendly as are the other patrons that you’ll be spending quality time with on the sidewalk. So if you have a craving for the Freshest Fish at a reasonable price head to Pacific Café, you won’t be disappointed.
