Great place for drinking beers and listening to live music on a weekend night. The restaurant portion is lacking serious food, and the waiters forget you are there. I ordered ca...

all in one mexican night out 11/17/2005

If you're looking for atmosphere with your margarita, this is the place to go; the food is decent too. I recommend going early to avoid the crowds, but if you're looking for action hit the bar around 8 and eat later and then go back to the bar. All of the food is good and they offer a wide selection of tequillas. Plan plenty of time for parking. more

Great Mexican food in the Marina 8/23/2005

Besides being a great place to meet up with friends for Margaritas and Tequila on a Saturday night, La Barca is an awesome place to chow down on your Mexican favs. I have been to La Barca several times and have always had a great experience. Whether celebrating the weekend or a special occasion, the staff is always accomodating and friendly, plus the service is speedy (along with the food). The bands are entertaining and keep the crowd dancing. I enjoy both aspects of La Barca, the bar and the restaurant, and those are what make your experiences unique each visit. Definitely recommend their margaritas and salsa for all city residents (not just Marina folk). The prices are average. more

Great Mexican, fun atmosphere! 8/18/2005

The best Mexican food in the upscale Marina district, La Barca Room features a fun atmosphere that's a little upscale, a little more impressive than the average taqueria. It has a lovely bar featuring fish tanks and colorful hats, and the interesting dining room exude an air of mystery. Sit in the back by the indoor waterfall, and enjoy the absolutely huge platters of classical Mexican food served by the friendly staff. Their salads are delicous for those looking for lighter Mexican fare--that is, if you can possibly resist the delicious chips and guacamole and those world class Margaritas. more
