I love Dolores Park Cafe. Located across the street from the park, this tiny cafe serves up excellent food, coffee and smoothies. The weekends are a great time to stop by, because although it is crowded -- the vibe is just what you'd expect from a locally-owned SF cafe. You can't get better than Dolores Park Cafe!

My wife loves this place but really I do not see the appeal. There are way better places to go that here. Always loud and not enough seating.

I chose Dolores Park Cafe for a quick bite for lunch with a friend, and though the menu sounds simple and good, my Fresh Mozzarella sandwich was pretty bland and the Cafe Latte was warm. It's a good place to hang out and people watch, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're hungry and need something tasty to fulfill your cravings.
Pros: Atmosphere, location, view
Cons: Pricey bland food, warm coffee

Dolores Park Cafe is a great hangout, especially when the weather is nice so you can grab a sandwich and some coffee and head across to the park. Everything I have ordered has been great, but my absolute favorite is the Mozarella and Basil sandwich, served on a fresh baguette. It never disappoints and of all the ones I have tried, the one at Dolores Park Cafe is the best. Even if you are not headed to the park, grab an outdoor table and have a great meal while people (and dog) watching. Or spend some time at the counter with a fresh smoothie and the paper. A great place to hang out: good food, prices, and service, and always an interesting atmosphere.

This best thing this cafe has going for it is the location- close to a lot of cool restaurants and across the street from Dolores Park, which boasts "the beach", a dog park, and some of the sunniest weather in the city. The cafe is a nice place to hang out and read the paper or make use of their wifi access.
I've only tried the desserts here, which have been good. They also have nice coffee and and a decent selection of teas. Staff is slightly indifferent and I hate how there's never anywhere to sit inside. I wish they had more tables. Should be known that they don't accept credit cards and charge a $2 fee for ATM usage.

I can't imagine anyone having a bad experince at the DPC. That previous reviewer must have gone in on a rare "off" day. I used to go in and get a latte every morning because they have this amazing organic free trade coffee that is yummy and they make the latte just the way I like, creamy & not too hot with just the right amount of foam! Then I quit drinking coffee and switched to tea. They have awesome housemade chai that I get with soy instead of milk and it's not too sweet (which is my biggest complaint about Starbucks Chai's). I used to get their pastrami on rye because it is literally the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had (it's Niman Ranch Beef), but now I don't eat beef so I get their chicken aioli sandwhich and it is to die for! Every soup I've ever had there is hearty and healthy and I love that they have a wide variety of organic options and stuff for vegans like their vegan cookies! You'd never know they are vegan! Plus on Friday nights, they have the best shows in town. It's great to bring my neices and nephews in since they can see live music, have delicious food and I can have a glass of wine and spend quality time with them doing something fun with them. Unlike most cafe's, the Dolores Park literally ROCKS!

There's so many great things about the Mission, but having simple, cool neighborhood cafes is not one of them. But, Dolores Park Cafe is the salve to this ache. If you're looking for good, basic sandwich and salad fare, done with just enough care, go here. They also serve coffee drinks and other things you would expect in a sidewalk cafe. The prices are reasonable, given the quality of the food. The park is right across the way, if you want to grab something to go. Also, if you're a fan of cleanliness where you eat, this is a great spot.
Pros: Food quality, Location, Super clean

While this place is definitely always crowded and the food wasn't bad...it wasn't good either. My veggie sandwich was limp, falling apart, and no better in any way than a sandwich I'd make. The prices are semi reasonable and I hear the coffee is supposed to be really good. The service is pretty fast which is a plus but not too friendly. They don't really offer much, and the desserts looked dry and kind of gross. With all the interesting places to eat in the area, I'd pass on this one.

I just have to respond to the review titled "Faboo." The reviewer mentions the personable owner and the dogs. Actually, the owner allows her own dog in the cafe but insists that everyone else's dogs remain tied up outside. And, the owner is anything but personable. She's a snob and rude, but the place is ok when she's not around. Plus, the food is way overpriced and not that great. It's a neighborhood hangout, that's all.
Pros: nice location, sunny
Cons: rude owner, $$ average food, no outlets for laptop
