I’ve been to Falafel bars in the Middle East where they give you a pita and 3 falafel balls and then you have free range to fill the rest of the sandwich up with whatever sauces and vegetables you want from the bins of falafel fillings. We don’t have that here. Why? People lack falafel vision, I guess. Well, the Truly Med folks don’t. Maybe if there was more space in their restaurant nook, they'd have a real falafel bar, but instead, they do the next best thing, which is to wrap all the perfect stuff in themselves. This includes big, fat, steak fries. French fries are awesome mixed in there with the tahini and hot sauce and all the other good stuff. Truly a Mission culinary gem.

First thing is that there is basically no seating area so plan on getting your food as take out. The staff is awesome and are always flirting with the girls that come in or hopping around to middle eastern dance music while they get your order. They have chicken shawermas on Tuesdays and Fridays and it's truly delish. I usually get their falafel wrapped in lavash and while not exactly the same as what I've had in the middle east, it's a decent replacement. Falafel deluxe is good too- though slightly odd that they add soggy fries into the mix.
Add them to your myspace!

This place reminds me of Nick Tahoe's Hots in Rochester, New York. It's that hole-in-the-wall, crowded eatery that serves amazing food. The menu is a little limited, but if you like schwerma, it's the place to go. They either serve lamb or chicken, whatever is on the skewer that day. There are two sauces to choose from, and I prefer the red over the white. The price is a little high, but for the best type of food and fast service, I go there every time I'm in SF.
