We had to host a corporate event and one of our team members selected Thirsty Bear. Its an OK restaurant with very nice banquet facilities. The food is good but you are really going for the atmosphere of the place. Our group was about 30 people and we had a private room the wait staff was very nice and more than accommodating. For the price that they charged us we all were wishing for a bit more food. Granted it is a Tapas place but many of the guests felt that they could have done a bit more. We would use it again, however with a smaller group it may be better.
PROS: great atmosphere
CONS: very loud / young crowd

The food at Thirsty Bear is again good, not great. I've been for lunch and dinner and have always liked my dishes, but was not blown away by anything.
My real issue is with pricing. I understand that tapas are small, but I expect that the entree side of the lunch and dinner menu will have larger portions, particularly considering the above-average prices.

Love this place, they have the best tapas ever! Every time my family is in the San Francisco area, we make it a point to eat there. I can't wait to go back!

This is a great place for a beer. It seems to be a very popular after work spot, since every time I have been here the bar area has been full. I made the mistake of ordering lemonade the last time I was there, and was charged separately for every drink. Next time I will definitely go for the beer.

Beer & Spanish Food? Go figure, but step in the Thirsty Bear and it all makes sense. Brenden Dobel, the Master Brewer, is one of the best brewers in the city and makes beer to suit all palates and taste. The tapas are excellent and offer small and large dishes and main courses. Try the paella - it's one of the best in the city

I would recommend TB more during the day or right after work than for dinner - it does tend to get quite crowded...of course if you've had enough of the tasty beers (vanilla and wheat are good..as I'm sure the others are) you probably won't mind. The service is not stellar, nor is the food but both are decent for a lunch/after work spot. The prices are pretty reasonable.
Pros: Good Beer, Fun for after work
Cons: Gets very crowded

The Spanish tapas are really good and fit well with the special brews including both light and dark beers. There is a good crowd after work, but it also a good lunch place, where you can find a seat.
