If you're looking for a healthy salad, try Pluto's. At Pluto's, you can get a big ol' plate of yummy lettuce, spinach, veggies, topped with chicken or red meat for cheap. Though the salads here are extraordinary, the service is mediocre and there is almost always a line. I wish the place was bigger so you would actually be able to sit down somewhere during the lunch hour. However, this won't be a problem if you get your salad to go

My first visit to Pluto's on Scott was terrific! While at first glance, the menu might appear limited for this walk-along-the-food-stations-to-pick-up-your-food restaurant; however, that proved wrong when I realized I had many choices to vary the selections. For example, in ordering a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, I was given the option of adding 7 toppings of other vegetables and cheeses. Wow! The sandwiches looked terrific, and I almost regretted my choice when I arrived at the meat grill and vegetable station. Oh, my! The brussel sprouts looked gorgeous, and the grilled sweet potatoe mixture appeared really appetizing! Dying to go back again for lunch!

The best deal on the menu is the small salad -- don't let the word small fool you.. this is a huge salad especially for the ladies. You can also get all kinds of hot meals here - especially the thanksgiving specials - really an amazing deal.

With only six locations in Northern California, Pluto's (2 in San Francisco), Pluto's is a fresh dining concept that should catch on nationally. With it's emphasis on low fat ingredients cooked in a healthy, yet tasty manner (grilled, steamed, baked, roasted), it's no wonder Pluto's is so popular among the take-out crowd. Ordering is a bit like going to the dorm cafeteria. Pick up a punch card. Decide if you want a salad or move directly to the meat and poultry area. Place your order and have them stamp your punch card. Pay at the counter. I highly recommend the sandwiches with bbq sauce. Yum.
