The French fare at Bistro Aix is consistently good, and an even better deal. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the calamari appetizer, the top sirloin burger, and the apple pie are all notable choices. A heated back patio adds some space to an otherwise very intimate restaurant. The surrounding neighborhood is perfect for an after-dinner stroll.

They have a nice wine selection including some great French wines as well as an excellent selection of California wines from Napa.

I took a client to dinner at the Bistro Aix and we had an amazing experience. The food was excellent and well presented. The portions were quite small and the prices were not, but quality rarely comes at a cheap price. There were a number of reasonably priced wine selections. The wait staff was very attentive but a bit obtrusive at times. Overall, however, I very much enjoyed the experience and can't wait to return.

Bistro Aix used to be a great bar, and one very handily placed right by the vaporetto stop where you catch the boats for the islands. With a view across to the serene street, you could have a glass of wine from a huge range of local varieties, all in top condition, and choose either a delicious panino or something gooey from the pasticceria counter.
You can still do that, but there's a new option too - a large room behind the main bar area has been opened up as a full restaurant. We discovered this on the way back from lunch on Murano so haven't yet tasted the food - a full review will follow in due course - but the menu is very tempting and quite out of the ordinary for Venice.
Dozens of different ways with beef, duck and - wait for it - reindeer; interesting vegetarian ideas, some with cheese (crespelle al radicchio e Montasio), and creative pizzas. Dolci look great too, and there's a list of over 100 wines, mostly local and mostly expensive because rare.

This place is great for group celebrations as well as romantic dining. It has a great colorful ambience. It's great to go with large groups because you can order the combination pre-fixe platter which has a combination of every entree on their menu. Also, be warned that you eat with your hands - no utensils! (Of course, you can request utensils but eating with your hands is part of the overall experience!) Before the meal, there is a hand washing tradition which allows for clean meal sharing. The belly dancer comes out to perform every 1/2 hour or so and she is wonderful and interactive. Great experience overall!
