My mom would love it here, since she loves to collect plates and they have a plate and deviled egg dish collection. The food is good -- typical brunch place that has a small amount of seating, so it's good for parties of 4 or so. I like their hash browns and omelets. The hours are typical brunch hours (to 3 I believe) so schedule accordingly.

In the past few months, I have seen The Village Grill really slip on its weekend breakfast. We used to have to wait an hour for a table on a typical Saturday morning, but now its in and out. I think that the West Portal Block just has more competition of food businesses than it used to. The food here is pretty much the same (good)and the service is good. I like the old fashioned diner theme. Is very cozy. I hope that things can pick up for them.

The meals are great, soup and sanwich selections are very filling. the corned beef hash is a winner too.
Their Irish breakfast at the weekends is very popular and good value.
Can get busy at the weekends but normally very easy to get a table.

I love this place -- truly an all-American diner. I especially recommend it for breakfast. Lots of choices (all good) and very nice, quick service. The only down side is that it can be very crowded on weekend mornings. You'll almost always have to wait, but they are fast so it's usually not too long.
