Recently for my husbands birthday we had the option of either dining at Farallon or Plouf. We chose Plouf and I'm certainly glad we did. Although very noisy and crowded, the food was excellent, the waiters friendly and the service first class. We will most certainly go back especially with out of town visitors. The food is actually good! The service and really more the attitude sucks. They treat you like you're a dumb 'americain!' I speak fluent french and I felt much like a 'tourist' in this place than a place I'd call a favorite in my city. Avoid the bar! The stools SUCK! The dining room chairs need to be replaced. Slick wood, and there's no back rest. YOu feel uncomfortable. Again, the food is good, so it might be worth it on a nice warm night to sit outside. The hostess is a very sexy frenchwoman, and that was a highlight! p.s. why are the waiters dressed like they're in a circus or prison! I don't get it! Plouf needs help. I've eaten here a couple of times during lunch & dinner and have been dissappointed each time. (Friends have brought me back, so it was not by choice to revisit.) The inside ambience is "eh" and very, very noisy. The waiters seemed intense and paid no attention to details. Service was slow, food was bland and the seafood was overcooked. Doesn't look like they ever change the menu either. The same items have been on their menu for years, which is also dissappointing. There are many other great restaurants in the city to try for the price. Pros: outside city dining Cons: poor service, blah food

I can't believe the food is so blah Maybe I happen to order the wrong thing EVERY time I have been to Plouf. I, and my entire table, have had terribly bland dishes and overcooked fish and shellfish on each visit. Several items have been tasty, but these are not the main courses.Plouf must be doing something right with some of their dishes to gain the good reviews I see here, but they have a serious problem with food quality and can't seem to prepare seafood properly. I still wouldn't bother to return. start to finish one of the worst dinning experience we've ener had. starting with our salads delivered to the wrong table twice. we had such a bad time.very snobby waiter. Cons: very croud, very bed service, mediocre food

I love this place. I have been here many,many times and the the service & food is always consistent and good. Their seafood is always fresh and well prepared. Ahhh, the joy of having that iron pot set in front of you filled with clams! You can have a nice dinner here or just get a casual,little snack at the bar...And the bartender is always very nice and makes good drinks. A great place to sit outside on a warm night.
