My boyfriend and I went there for the first time March of last year for our anniversary and loved it! While our table was being prepared, we waited in the bar and the bartender was funny and friendly and made a hell of a drink! We were seated shortly and because it was our anniversary, they decorated the table with "happy anniversary" confetti and our menus said Happy 3 years. Talk about above and beyond! Our waitress was the friendlier than I had anticipated and gave us great service and suggestions. Everything is a la carte but the sides and salads are big enough to share and just as good as their steak. I had a double cut filet and it literally melted in my mouth it was so good! My boyfriend got the porterhouse and loved it too. Our wedge salad and potato skins were perfect! I would love to say that the dessert was delicious but we were way too full! All in all, it was a great experience. Yes, its pricey but you get what you pay for and totally worth it. Needless to say, My boyfriend and I are making this a tradition and are going back in a couple weeks for our four year anniversary :)
Pros: location, service, STEAK!
Cons: pricey

Lets start off by saying that this is NOT a place to get a steak (or any other entree for that matter) if you are frugal, thrifty, or just plain stingy... that being said, DAMN this was some good steak!!! My wife and I came to the restaurant for her birthday, and the staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. We had reservations and were seated promptly to a table that was specially decorated with birthcay decor (understated but got the message accross). Every employee that passed by our table even stopped to wish her a happy birthday! The hostess even came by to take a picture, and to our surprise returned with a souvenire printed picture!!!
Ok, now for the meal...
The steak was cooked exacty as we had ordered it and was tender and tasty. Also, we started with bacon wrapped scallops, and I have to say they were the best scallops I have ever had. The sides we ordered (grilled asparagus and macaroni and cheese) were also excellent. In fact, if i could find only one flaw with this restaurant is the prices in the drink menu. The wine is ridiculously overprised, even by restaurant standards, so I would recommend bringing your own bottle and paying the corkage fee ($25, but when a GLASS of cabernet will set you back an average of $17, I would say well worth it). Otherwise this place is well deserving of all the hype!!!
Pros: Staks and service
Cons: drink prices

I had the pan seared tuna. It is pricey but well worth it. They even took our picture and put in in a little mortons frame and wrote happy aniversary!! Very cute!

The food is very expensive, but it is, indeed, delicious. I was there for a business celebration dinner. Their cocktails are wonderful, as is the Pinot Noir and Cabernet. We had smoked salmon and tuna tartare for appetizers. The salmon was amazing, but I didn't care too much for the tuna. I ordered the single cut filet mignon with bearnaise sauce (basically hollandaise with tarragon...yummy). It was very good. I also had a bite of my boyfriend's bone-in ribeye and it was just dripping with flavor. You should order your steak one notch above the way you like it cooked. I like my steak medium, but it came out more like medium rare. The upside-down apple pie with ice cream is a culinary dream. i don't even like apple pie, but this was unbelieveable. Ladies: I wore a nice pair of dark jeans and silk halter top with heels, so the dress code here isn't cutthroat. Guys: There were men in suits, but no tie or jacket is required. Our check came to about $200 per person, with tip...to give you an idea of pricing (but then again, we didn't really spare any expense).
Pros: Service, drinks, steak
Cons: Pricing, king crab legs weren't so fresh

This was a wonderful upscale steakhouse for our last day in SF. The service was professional and my boyfriend and I talked about how happy we were to have such a sweet and friendly waitress finally! Side dishes were traditional, yet enormous and great mashed potatoes and asparagus with hollandaise. My lobster tail and his steak were fabulous not to mention the chocolate souffle to finish off a great dinner.
Cons: Loud and tables too close to another

I've been here a dozen times and it's always great. The secret is that they had 5-7pm Happy Hour steak sandwiches for bar appetizers. And those are free. Jesus, I should be here every day. For my birthday, they had a custom-printed menu, prepped a table with birthday items, and had an absolutely incredible meal. No, it was not cheap, but Morton's is all about absolutely excellent steak and drinks. I can't really understand the complaining in other reviews unless people are expecting to pay $20 for a $40 steak, but fundamentally it's one of the best carnivore experiences anywhere. My personal favorite is the Cajun Ribeye (with creamed spinach, yay!) and the Tuna Tartare starter. Just fantastic. The next time I'm feeling wealthy I'll be right back. PS - the bartenders here are awesome. Make friends with them and slug down the cocktails!
Pros: The best steak anywhere. Great cocktails. Professional service.
Cons: Can't afford it everyday :-(

This was my first time at Morton?s and was disappointed by my meal.
APPETIZER
I ordered a crab cake, and failed to notice that it said ?cake? not ?cakes?. Although I must say it was the best crab cake I have ever had, it certainly was not worth $15.00. I could have purchased an entire crab for that price.
ENTREE
I ordered the rib eye and requested that it be cooked medium-well. After a rather lengthy wait, the steak was finally brought to the table. Unfortunately, when I cut into it, it was clearly prepared rare. Thankfully, I was able to obtain the attention of the manager and he promptly acknowledged that it was rare and took it back to the kitchen. When the steak was returned to me, its outward appearance looked completely unappealing. What was once an undercooked steak was now clearly burnt, but I was willing to give it a try. I was attempting to swallow the charred piece of meat when my waiter returned to see if I liked it. The waiter took the steak away and within a few minutes, and entirely new piece of steak was brought to me by the manager with his apologies. Thankfully, it was much better
DESSERT
We were told by the waiter that if we wanted the hot chocolate cake we would need to order it at the time we ordered the entree b/c it would take one hour to prepare, and that he would return with a dessert tray at the end of the meal should we want something from it. We ordered a hot chocolate cake and expected to see the dessert tray later. The cake appeared at the end of the meal, but the waiter never brought the dessert tray.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Overall, I think Morton?s is over-rated and you can find a better steak at another establishment.
Pros: Delicious crab cake.
Cons: Overpriced crab cake.

My wife and I recently went to Morton's for my birthday. The service was a bit spotty. When clearing our table for the main course, our waiter had not wiped off the bread crumbs from our table. Also, he forgot to bring us another set of clean utensils, which I asked another waiter to do.
Also, my wife had inquired about the complimentary "after dinner drink" they were offering to certain clients around us. When she talked to the host, the host mentioned that it is only for their regular customers who dine more than 3X per month. This was our first and last time to Morton's. There are other great steak houses in the city, mainly Ruth's Chris. Their food and service is much superior to Morton's.
