Having just moments ago written my emphatic review of the original Osha Thai, I hang my head low in addressing its younger, more stylish sibling. This is sort of a be-careful-what-you-wish-for situation, because I can swear at some point being like, "If only an Osha Thai would open up closer to where I live…" and one day my heart skipped a beat when I saw the newly minted restaurant. What I should have asked for is not an Osha Thai, but a thai noodle house like the one I'd always loved and respected. Unlike the original, there are no sauces on the table, no free tea, no Thai pop music on the stereo. Yeah, the food is good, but the place looks so freakin' trendy, you just keep thinking, why oh why can't we just have the mirrors and booths? Why did you feel the need to get all uppity and change? Everything is fancier and more expensive. I still eat here from time to time because it's so close and the food is so good, but I fell terrible about it.

I love this restaurant. I've been to Thailand several times and after coming back from Thailand could not eat Thai food until Osha. The food is yummy and the mango sticky rice dessert is unbeatable. price is reasonable which is an added bonus. there are three osha thai locations in sf. one in the mission, soma and in the tendorloin area. i hear that there will be one opening in the embarcadero...can't wait!

Osha is a hip, mirrors-and-chrome Thai restaurant that looks more New York City than Mission district. The more upscale setting translates into the occasional modest wait to be seated. While the food may not be at its most authentic, it's definitely tasty. The pan-fried noodles and curry dishes are solid bets. A good choice for a group outing.

This isn't simply the same Geary Osha food at higher prices. I loved the Geary location and was hesitant, but decided to give this location a try. It didn't disappoint. Great decor. Food is a bit more expensive but they also have diferent offerings. At 11:15PM on a Sun night the food the fresh and each ingredient distinctly added to the dish.

\I had a horrible experience there the last time I went. I waited the whole time to get a napkin. We requested a napkin twice and never received it. As well, I ordered a curry mild. Well, I have problems with spicy food recently, but I thought it would be ok as they usually aren't that spicy. I got my curry and it tasted more on the medium side. I told my waitress about it, and she instantly wisked my dish away saying that they would "check on it". Even though I had said, "it's fine, I just wanted to warn you". Anyways, she keeps the dish away from me for the whole meal while everyone else eats. I finally get some food back from her, but by that time, everyone is done. I felt like I was being punished for commenting, though I still wanted to eat!!!
Pros: decor, light
Cons: horrible, rude, service

On my way home from the theatre tonight I had a craving for Thai food. I've loved Osha's Geary location forever -- great prices, fast service, delicious food -- and since the Mission location is closer to my home, I dropped by there. What a mistake! Food is 30-50% more expensive than at the Geary location ($10.95+ for curries?!), food is neither more plentiful or tastier, the wait is longer, and the menu is MANY TIMES smaller! Okay, so it has a trendy atmosphere, but the seats are worse than uncomfortable (again, strikingly so compared to the comfy booths of Osha at Geary). Why would people rave about this place?!
Pros: Open late, Decent food
Cons: Overpriced, Limited menu, Parking

I agree the decor and location cannot be beat. I live only a few blocks away and couldn't wait to try our my "neighbourhood Thai." Disappointing! I try the Pad Thai which should be one of the best dishes in any casual Thai restaurant since it's so standard, but OSHA's pad thai was gluey and oversweet-- a negative comment read on several other reviews. The meat on the lamb satay was good, but it was on the specials menu. And, the sauces that came with the spring rolls and the satay were also over the top-- too much, too strong as if drowning us in the key flavours of Thai cuisine would hide OSHA's shoddy technique. Desserts look temping, but that's all I'm getting next time...
Pros: music, decor, location
Cons: food, sauces, service

I mean, if you are going to be open, please serve your customer with respect. But if you want to go home, please don't serve us at all. Maybe you want to consider closing a little early?
Pros: Food
Cons: service, food, atmosphere
