Scene: Day: Thursday/Friday/Saturday Time: Around 9pm in the evening Where: Mission State: Sober/Buzzed With: Buddy/group of friends Wants: Get everyone together for some cool drinks, loud conversation and pre-party before going out Cha Cha Cha (Mission and 19th) So, in my opinion this is probably one of the few spots in SF with good sangria, very comparable quality to that of Little Italy in NYC. This is a really cool spot to go to with a bunch of buddies to hang out, eat tapas (not many people get their own plates, everyone does tapas and shares them!) Probably not the best place for a date because it is JUST SO LOUD! but an ideal spot to hang out before going out partying on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. That Mission district is cool because it's a happening street and there is Medjeul right next door - which is an awesome place in itsellf!

A few days ago, my friend had a birthday and we went to Cha Cha Cha, a tapas restaurant in the Mission District. We ordered a few pitchers of sangria, which was delicious and not overly sweet. Then we had a series of small plates: fried calamari, chicken, beans and rice, scallops, and it was all delicious! This is a great place to go with a group if you enjoy tapas style meals.

Cha Cha Cha is a fun place to come with a group of friends, as it has a party atmosphere that's centered around the huge bar in the middle of the restaurant. They have great sangria, sold by the pitcher, and nice appetizers like their calamari. Large portions. What I didn't like: their Carribean style entrees were pretty mediocre. My friend's steak was horribly dry and my chicken dish was not every memorable. The waitstaff was somewhat indifferent. And it's extremely loud inside! Be prepared to shout if you want to actually talk to the people at your table.
