I went here with my uncle last year and the food was great. The food was very fresh and the waiters were very polite. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very nice.

The Oriental Pearl Restaurant offers great quality dim sum at a reasonable price. My sister and I arrived absolutely ravenous and ordered 8 different items, plus a pot of green tea, and our bill came out to be just less than $30. The servers were very courteous, and assisted us in choosing certain items. They even accomodated us as we entered just as the restaurant would have closed for lunch.
Overall, excellent food, service, and prices! Would definitely return before leaving San Francisco!
This review is the subjective opinion
Pros: Clean and tidy - I would highly recommend it.

Not the most dynamic chinese food we've ever had. The service was attentive, the restaurant seems pretty clean. The cleanliness also lends itself to generic-ness, though. The dim sum appetizer was the best part of the meal--lots of great flavors and sauces. Our main entrees just didn't have a ton of zing--the mongolian beef was tender but floppy, and the chicken chow mein was there but boring. If you somehow get stuck here for dinner you're in for some absolutely average chinese food (and average isn't all that bad, right?). Just don't come here expecting to be blown away.
Pros: Servers are very nice.
Cons: Blah.

This restaurant came highly recommended by our concierge at the Marriott, and when I saw all the reviews plastered on the walls on the way in, I was very excited. The restaurant is clean, the service is good, and considering the other options I saw in Chinatown, this might be a great restaurant in the area; however, I didn't find the food to be any better than your average neighborhood Chinese restaruant. We ordered a few pieces of Dim Sum before the meal, and it was excellent so I would recommend it for that, but our two entrees were well below expectations. We got the Almond/Cashew Chicken, and a "spicy" beef noodle dish, both of which were bland and of poor quality. Just get the Dim Sum and forget the main dishes.
Pros: Clean, Good Service
Cons: Bland, Poor quality meat

Had dinner on a Sunday night without a reservation. We were staying at the downtown Marriott and walked there in @ 10-15 minutes. We originally went to the Empress of China and left before ordering due to the rudeness of the staff. Hostess at Oriental Pearl was friendly and we were seated right away. Food was excellent and ranged in the $10-15 range for most meals. I had the chicken with special brown sauce (highly recommend) and my fiancee had the mongolian beef which was also excellent. If you are looking for a fancy romantic dinner I would not recommend this place but if you are looking for an excellent authentic casual Chinese dinner in the heart of Chinatown then this is the restaurant for you. P.S. We found out after eating at the Oriental Pearl that Rachel Ray (Food Network) recommended it on her show.
Pros: Excellent Food, Reasonable Prices

This restaurant is a pearl among the greasy dives of Chinatown. We had Chinese Broccoli with dried salted fish, scallops and calamari sauteed with chinese chives and tofu soup with minced pork and seaweed. All carefully prepared and delicious. A 2nd floor location, linen tablecloths, a clean bathroom and a good heating system add to Oriental Pearl's charm. A good place to take out of town guests.
