When we walked in, there was an accordionist and a guitar player. The place seemed warm with a light upbeat atmosphere. And that was the best of the evening.
The wait staff, two young women were prertentious, cold and unpersonable. The young man was trying to add a gracious welcoming touch to the place but was not able alone to undermine unappealing behaviour of the two women.
The quality of the food was mediocre with all sharing one main ingredient: lots of lime juice or something just as tart.
My friend and I ordered the most expensive item on the menu ($15.95 each) : Mediterranean Meza for 2. Tapas sized sampler of 10 items from the menu.
$2.50 for a can of soda.
If atmosphere is more important than substance to you, maybe this is the right place. If food is important, I would skip it.
The novelty aspect of the place is not enough to merit a second visit and if I had known beforehand what I described above, I would not have even been there this first time.
We have enjoyed many good Mediterranean restaurants in New York, LA, Chicago, Houston as well as abroad and based on such experience, we cannot say this was one of them.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Service and food

This is my favorite place ever! The food is incredible, I take home their pomegranate sauce and their salad dressing, It?s fantastic!
Their food is fresh, tasty and the ambience is friendly and romantic. Their prices are great too! Their ?Mesa Brunch? or ?Mesa Dinner? is the best deal, you get to try a little bit of everything, it?s worth to go there.
Pros: Food, ambience, friendly staff, good for vegetarians, good for non-vegetarians
Cons: none

I am obsessed with La Mediterranee. I have been going here for the past ten years - it's great for family, friends, couples. The food is consistently amazing - I have never had a negative experience. I always order the Middle Eastern Plate: it's a sampler platter with a fresh Aram sandwich, warm filo-and-spinach roll, insanely delicious chicken cilicia (sweet chicken, filo dough, and cinnamon roll), and your choice of soup or salad, and Pomegranate chicken or lamb meatball, both of which are tender and fantastic, never dry. The hummus is also warm and well-seasoned. For dessert, the baklava and datil armada (warm dates wrapped in filo dough next to a heaping pile of whipped cream) are unbeatable but best to split with someone else. They don't accept reservations but I never have to wait more than 15 minutes for a table. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the prices are low for the quality. Go as soon as possible!
Pros: food, service, price, ambience
Cons: impossible parking

I love this place. The food is fresh and healthy, the staff is great, ambience is perfect for a smallish/medium group or a couple. And its relatively dirt cheap compared to other places in SF of this quality. I've been there or ordered out at least 20 times and I've yet to be disappointed.
Pros: romantic but low key, pretty cheap, fun
Cons: they dont take reservations, so you might be waiting for awhile

I can never remember the name of these things, but La Med makes these little pastry things with filo dough and the beef inside is flavored with cinnamon and other spices. Sooooo good. As are their grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, olives… well, I could list all the delicacies they have here, the standard Greek/Middle Eastern sort of stuff, but the point is, the food here is a cut above the other falafel joints around town. Live music too on some nights really makes this a great place to sup.

I always get the Middle Eastern Plate. It comes with 3 different (and scrumptious) mini portions of their best dishes plus a piece of a wrap of some sort(with cream cheese etc. inside), potato salad, hummus, and some fruit. I love having that variety and enjoyig the difference in tastes and textures. The pomogranite chicken falls right off the bone, it is so tender and moist. It is served over a yummy yellow-colored rice. The food is consistently good and I think it's well worth the prices (which are not that bad at all by the way). I always leave feeling totally satisfied. Please try it and give them your business. I would be crushed if they closed!
Pros: ambiance, food, prompt service
Cons: parking

This place has been serving their delicious Mediterranean fare for well over 20 years, and yet after all this time it is still fresh. La Med has been a standby forever, and for the quality and price, not to mention friendly neighborhood service, the value can't be beat. I've got to get my fix of the hummos regularly, followed by a Middle Eastern Plate, and Datil almandra afterwards. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry....
Pros: neighborly cafe, value, satisfying

I love this restaurant. I have gone twice and each time has been a treat. We were seated promptly, and our waiter greeted us immediately. The food is great, I suggest trying the entree' sampler which includes 3 servings of their main dishes, potato salad, hummus and pita. It is a real treat to walk out of restaurant, having had dinner for 2, a glass of wine for under 40 dollars.
