I arrived at Tadich for my first time last Saturday at 11:25am - 5 minutes before they opened. There was a line of people but I was te first person at the bar.
Food;
The veal picatta was good - not mind blowing but very good. It was a thick slab vs. thinly sliced and it was well-rare. Nice! The white wine caper sauce was excelent! This dish also inluded languini-like pasta with a red pepper/tomatoe sauce that was unbelievibly great! I also had the dungeness crab salad and it was HEAVEN!
The staff was freindly and cheerfull and experienced.
Highly recommend Tadich. It is now my Saturday morning retreat.

I visited the Tadish Grill on 09/02/05 for lunch; I was very disappointed with the quality of food. I order prawns with fresh tomatoes this dish was $18.00. I received 6 very over cooked tasteless prawns that were very small in size, and I received two slice of tomatoes on a bed of iceberg lettuce. I sent my meal back and ordered the pan-fried pacific snapper that was also disappointing. The fish had very little flavor. The best part of the meal was the sour dough bread.
Pros: Bread

I read all of the reviews and looked forward to dinner here. Unfortunately the service was apathetic at best and the food only average. What killed this place was the service: the wait staff was rude, curt and unattentive. There are a million better places to eat in SF.
Pros: Nice Menu, Easy Parking
Cons: Horrible Service, Over Priced

I'm currently on a trip in San Francisco with my parents, sister, grandmother and cousin from my father's side of the family. My mom is a reservation freak and although she had already made a reservation at another restaurant, my grandma and my dad said, "OH WE'RE GOING TO THE TADICH GRILL!" So we went, all of us tired from a long day touring SF, and I must say that the wait at the Tadich Grill is rather long. But once you get inside the wood-panelled restaurant, you're surrounded by friendly waiters and great service. Be sure to try the Pacific Oysters on the Half Shell, but not during spawning season (May-August). Also, I might add about the funky brown toilets. GREAT service, pub-like feeling, maybe not so good for a romantic night out, but for an old-fashioned family restaurant, the Tadich Grill is highly-recommended.
Pros: Friendly waiters, Good food, Nice aesthetic
Cons: Long wait, Walk to the bathrooms, Kinda hard to hear

Took my parents for their "last meal" while visiting SF. We arrived around 5:45 and waited for about 30 min: no reservations are accepted. One can avoid the wait by eating at the bar. My Dad really wanted to try cioppino, the SF fish stew with everything in it: he said it was excellent, a huge portion, very fresh seafood and complicated in taste. My mother had the house special sole in the wine/butter sauce: she too found the fish fresh and not too heavy. I had the steak with mushroom sauce, which was very juicy and tender. The place fills up fast and gets loud. Visit if you want good food and are willing to wait and sacrifice conversation.
Pros: Fresh Seafood, Good Steaks
Cons: Gets Busy Fast, Hard to Hear/Loud

The food here is decent, but hardly worth the hassle and the awful attitude of the staff. It amazes me that people put up with the headache to eat here.

Over the years, my husband and I have gone to Tadich's for lunch whenever we're in the Bay area. Recently, my son and I went on a weekday at prime lunch hour. It was packed with businessmen waiting in line, but we managed to find two seats at the bar. The waitress/bartender was swamped, but still managed to keep a close eye on us. The food, as always, was simply prepared and flavorful. The ambience is loud, but the tiled floor and wood panelling and bar create a special setting for a fine meal. We'll be back!
Pros: Great food, Attentive service
Cons: , A bit spendy

I went with two coworkers. After hearing all of the reviews, and the long wait, our appetizer arrived. We chose the fried calamari, which was slightly above average. For main courses, two of us ordered Filet Mignon; one medium-rare, and the other medium. Our friend ordered a lamb dish.
When the food arrived, I was amazed at the Filet Mignon. I tried both and they were the driest, most overcooked and unpalatable steaks I have eaten. At 33 bucks apiece. I am amazed that it could have even happened by accident. There were no juices or flavor left in the steaks. I cannot stress how terribly done they were. I would recommend almost any other restuarnt in SF for steaks. The lamb, on the other hand, was average.
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: , terrible steaks, way overpriced
