food was great, meat was tender, juicy and tastful, what a excellent chief.
However, the porklion was a little bit tastless, maybe just not fit my tastbud.
Overall, GREAT~ definitely will re-visit
Pros: great price, tasty food
Cons: location, small space

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here, and the price is reasonable enough that you don't have to worry about ordering anything (and everything!) you want. The standout for me was a salmon, potato and coriander appetizer. For my husband it was probably the duck with lentils. They were both heavenly. I ordered salmon for my entree as well, and was underwhelmed, but I'm starting to think its impossible to order salmon anywhere and have it taste like anything but dressed up salmon. I digress. While the dessert was also good-but-not-amazing, the frisee salad was lovely, the wine selection was great, the service was wonderful and the neighborhood is just fine. You are on a busy street but you are also getting delicious french food at a much better price than you will find it most other places in the city. Go, Eat, Enjoy.

I adore Fringale. Everyone of my friends that I introduce to Fringale adores it too. My favorite dishes are the Black Angus rib eye steak with wine butter and the duck leg confit. Make sure you save room for dessert (which is why I'm not familiar with the appetizers). I highly recommend the gateau basque and the hazelnut/almond mousse cake. I've heard, however, that their fish dishes aren't nearly as tasty as their meat and fowl dishes. Their prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food. My only possible complaint is that the crowd tends to be more "mature" and not very hip. But hey, I go to restaurants to eat good food. . .not meet new people.
Pros: absolutely delicious! well priced
Cons: older crowd

I hadn't been back to Fringale in 7 years until tonight and wish I hadn't waited so long to return. The service was attentive and charming and the food was good. Fringale's Basque-inspired bistro food is great for those nights where you'd like a good meal without breaking the bank. While the steamed mussels were a little over-cooked, the flavors were nice. The carpaccio w/horseradish and manchego cheese was interesting and quite good. My friend had a foie gras terrine which she loved and the crispy polenta which she described as great comfort food. The fresh berries w/a Grand Marnier sabayon was a delicious highlight. Best of all, the meal was very reasonably priced. You can find better French food in the city, but for the price, this is a winner.

I went for a weeknight dinner with two friends and it was wonderful! There was no wait although the restaurant did fill up (which always is a good sign to me) as we dined. I had the duck over smoked lentils, which was delicious! Friends had the chicken (which he said was really good) and the lamb (which other friend said was pretty good). I was pleasantly surprised, too, at the very reasonable prices for a French restaurant. Everything was great--the ONLY thing I would note is that the area is not especially fancy/nice (even though the restaurant is), and my friend's car got broken into in the short time we were dining. So, I recommend parking on 4th or any of the bigger/main streets (he was parked in a smaller side street). But, other than that, I definitely recommend the restaurant and I'll definitely be back!
Pros: delicious food, good service, pretty reasonable
Cons: area's not-so-nice

I choose this restaurant because it has a overall good review. I am not sure it is my luck or it is the norm of this restaurant.
We has four main course and two of them are awful and two just average. I have much better experience with other French rest. in the SOMA area.
The one to stay away are the duck dish and shell fish. The duck meat was dry and over cook like tree skin, frankly, it taste like leftover. The Shell fish dish was so plain from a French kitchen.
The service is below average with two waiter for the entire show.. They did not even bother to ask you how is everything go which my Bob down the street coffee shop will even ask.
Like I say, it might be my luck but this restaurant is off my list.
Pros: good parking, clean
Cons: disappointing food, svc is below avg
