I read all the great reviews for this place and then I decided to have dinner there with my significant other. When you enter the place you feel small, and when you leave you feel even smaller. The attitude on the staff was such a turn off that I simply turned around and left never to return. I never tasted the food because the service and pompousity was so incredibly thick, it is impossible to feel welcome and keep an appetite especially when there are so many other better places in the city.
Pros: I didn't have to stay and put up with the incredibly rude staff.
Cons: I saved myself some money and found a better french place in the city.

My date took me to this little gem for my birthday last week It was Fabulous. Service was perfect as well as the food. The foie gras terrine is to die for as well as the prawns in pastis, we could not stop wiping the sauce with the bread... it was just Too delicious. The entrees were just as delicious. I had the halibut with was perfectly cooked & my date had the ribeye steak which he loved! The vegetables were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was very attentive which we really appreciated because it is hard to find great service these days, especially on a Friday night. Dessert was also to die for, especially the hazelnut mousse cake which came with a candle and "have a great birthday" wish from our waiter. The wine list was substancial and the waiter was always nearby to refill our glasses. We will definately go back.
Pros: food, service, ambience
Cons: can't think of any

We selected this place based on good reviews. While the food was decent, I'd recommend the prawns, service was terrible. During dinner the server was helpful, however as soon as we paid our bill and were finishing our wine, service rapidly declined.
After the manager took our check, the waiter came over to ask us if there was a problem with the service she provided. We were appalled by the question because we left her 20% and the owner told her we only left 10%. A few minutes later she came by to say "we figured it out." I would imagine most people would apologize for this, but that wasn't the case. Had this been the only incident, I would have dismissed the whole event.
Then 15 minutes later, the owner told us, "You need to leave, I have another reservation." We were a party of 5 who had 3 courses each and dined for a little over 2 hours. Most restaurants plan for at least a 2 hour turn and if they are over booked they will politely ask customers if they could seat them elsewhere. I told the owner he could have handled this in a more professional manner as there were 5 seats available at the bar and we would have been more than glad to accommodate the request.
Considering that the food was decent, I may have revisited the restaurant to try other items on the menu. Unfortunately the service was rude and offensive, therefore I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: prawns
Cons: service

Disappointing experience. I made a reservation online for 9:30 on a Friday night. Arrived at 9:25 and was not seated at our table until 10pm! we were one of the last tables seated and the host and several servers were actually eating thier dinner when we left at 10:50. They said it would be 10 minutes which is exactly what they told the people that had NO reservation that came in at the same time. The host made a big deal about how since we had made the reservation thru open table they didn't know about it and we should expect it to be a real reservation! If they don't want to use an online reservation system then it is thier choice to get rid of it. After 20 minutes they got us a very very small amuse bouce. the food itself was very average. my dinner companion's ravoli was good but it was served luke warm and only small three raviolis for 12 dollars. The companion's entree of rissoto was the best thing with lots of flavor. My own meal of lobster bisque and r@ck of lamb was very bland and not memoriable at all. the lobster bisque was too salty for me but the companion who is french thought it was just like what she ate at home in the south of France. The r@ck of lamb was dissapointing with only two chop, cold potato gratin and over cooked beans.
Also for being a basque place the food was not very basque and all the servers, host and manager were from central and northern France not the Basque region.
The dessert list looked good and we got the homemade truffles and a hzelnut mousse cake which was really nice and little.
Pros: dessert, not too noisy
Cons: horrible service, average food

We dined here because of the great reviews. Food was delicious, BUT when the waitress spilled the water on my spouse (we are not talking about a glass, but a pitcher full), though apologies were given, we do however expect some form of gratuitous offering, perhaps a dessert or even just simply 'comping' the wine. Since we were a party of six, we were obligated to tip her 18-20%.
I wouldn't come back to this restaurant that doesn't know the definition of class.
Pros: good food
Cons: bad customer service; wear a waterproof jacket - the waitress will spill water on you

My boyfriend took me here for for dinner to celebrate my birthday last. It was my first time there, and I was quite impressed. Though we were initially annoyed because we had an 830pm reservation and didn't get seated til close to 9, once seated, the service was good. You could tell they were a bit understaffed and running behind on seating, but even with a full restaurant and people waiting, they were always courteous, never rude when we made special requests, and did not rush us. As for the food, everything I put in my mouth was delicious! We had the Dine About Town prix fixe menus. The shrimp with sun dried tomatoes tasted fresh and the sauce was light, flavorful and so good I ate the remaining sauce with my bread. My boyfriend had the chicken and vegetable terrine mousse which was also good, though the shrimp was better. We both had the Lamb Osso Bucco, which was delicious, the last time I'd had lamb that good was when I'd eaten it in Paris a few years ago. We also ordered an additional side of potato gratin, which was baked and crispy on the outside with layers of potatoes and cream inside, wonderful. For dessert, I had the chocolate gourmand, which is a flourless chocolate cake that was rich, chocolatey and not too sweet, one of the best I've had,and I know my chocolate. The ice cream was flavorful, creamy, and more like the gelato I had in Italy, and the berries were a nice accompaniment. My boyfriend had the hazelnut almond mousse cake which was light but filled with a deliciuos nutty flavor. And though we had expected small portions, they were of decent size and we both left satiated, even a bit stuffed, and I took some lamb to go. Our bill came to about $100 and also inlcuded a half bottle of pinot blanc, a beer, and a delicious mocha. All in all, just a wonderful dining experience, though too pricey to go often. A great place to go for a romantic and delicious dinner, though the wait and and lack of space would prevent me from going with groups.
Pros: FOOD- one of the best meals ever, ambience, service
Cons: long wait even w/ a reservation, pricey-but worth it

Went with the wife on a Friday night and had one of the most enjoyable dinners there. Service was impeccable, do not understand why others had such a rough time here. She had the pork, me the sol. The pork was insanely good, my sol was so so. But my prawns appetizer more than made up for it and her chicken salad was out of this world. The wine selection was plenty, the wife loved her warm chocolate gourman, very traditional french, but they did not mess it up. Our waiter was friendly, humorous, and not overbearing, not much more than we can ask for. Will definitely revisit.
Pros: Food, service, ambiance.
Cons: Can't think of any, parking is right across the street.

Very tasty food, rubbish service. In a 90 minute visit the waiter visited our table once to take our order. Never returned to offer more drinks, deserts or coffee. Our empty water glasses were filled 5 minutes before we left. If the place had been packed they might have had a slim excuse, but as there were only 3 other tables seated they can't even use that excuse. They appear to have made an art form of avoiding customers. For more attentive service and equally tasty food visit Zuppa right next door.

A wonderful French experience from the waiters who true French accents, the dim warm lighting and good, tummy-warming food. The clientele tends to be older and refined, just like the restaurant so if you're looking for hip - this won't be it. However, if you're looking for a serious, quiet and intimate place - this is it. Perfect for the first date I went on: we got a private table for 2 by the window and the tones were hushed enough that we could talk for hours which we did. We ended up closing the restaurant but were never rushed by the waitstaff, who were instead generous, appropriately engaged and fun.
Entrees: he had steak frites (classic dish), and I had duck over lentils - the actual descriptor was probably a lot more refined but trust me, the duck was flavorful, deep and rich. The lentils were slightly stewed in a dark wine sauce which added a mysterious salty flavor. The flavors blended nicely. Dessert was chocolate banana pudding which would not have been our first choice, except our waiter recommended it. It turned out to be quite good and definitely unique.
