I was very pleased with my experience at Woodward's Garden. The service was great (I am pretty sure it was one of the owners) and the meal was fantastic. It was nice because you didn?t feel rushed through your meal.(mine was a salad, then my entree and we or desert. There was no get out of here vibe that most restaurants put on you once you've stopped eating. That alone makes Woodward's stand out in the crowd.
Pros: fresh flowers on each table, great food, wine, service
Cons: parking was a bit hard.

I'm not a foodie, so I'm probably not qualified to speak on the food, but to my untrained tongue, it was excellent! The service and ambiance are perfect and left me wondering why we don't have anything close to this in LA!
Pros: Excellent service, food, and ambiance
Cons: None

This is my favorite eatery in SF! Dahlia at the door and Steven leading the pack guarantee a great evening. The kitchen churns out fantastic food with good portions, beautiful plating and a killer wine list. From oysters to lamb - these guys know what they are doing. When you work in publicity and dining out is part of the job, finding a jewel like this is rare. Great for clients or a little romantic dinner for two. Be sure to make a reservation - James
Pros: Great Food, Beautiful Plating and Gracious Service
Cons: Small Bar but this is an intimate space and it works

I kept hearing about this place but it's in the Marina so it took awhile for me to get there. Now I wish there was one closer to me because I have no choice but to travel there repeatedly. It has a modern yet casual atmosphere--good place to sit down and enjoy eating great food (sort of a garden meets a Swedish wood sauna). If you like fresh local food as an ingredient in almost every item on the menu, you need to check this place out. They offer beautiful salads and allow you to have your own created with local organic farm produce. If you don't mind paying a bit, they have delicious organic juices made for you as you wait (this can take awhile so don't go there in peak hours if you want a quick juice to go). The appetizers and entrees range from Californian to Asian in style. If you want a hamburger don't go. They only offer free range organic chicken, shrimp and wild sustainable fish - the fresh halibut with seasonal vegetables and grains is amazing. If you care about where what you eat comes from, like the idea of fresh seasonal ingredients and don't want to spend a tonne, this is your place. Oh, and they also have scrumptious home made desserts and a good selection of local organic wines and beer. I give lettus 5 stars for being the best new discovery I've made in years!
Pros: great prices and access to fresh local organic food, delicious and diverse menu, sustainable
Cons: crowded, parking, wait

We came in for brunch on a Saturday and had a great time. We started off with a bottle of champagne and some oysters. The champagne (Veuve Rose)was recommended to us by our server and was excellent and the oysters were super fresh. For our entrees we had an Eggs Chesapeak (like Eggs Benedict but with crab cakes instead of ham and english muffin) and some pancakes. The service kicked ass. Awesom brunch. Sit outside if the weather permits so you can watch the marina folks stroll by.
Pros: Wine list, Brunch
Cons: Wait list for outside

This is one of my very favorite restaurants in SF. There food is excellent and they have the best tirimisu I have ever had. They have a beautiful carved bar that has a great deal of history (the waiters will tell you the story). I had the chicken and loved it.

The Hard Knox Cafe on 3rd Street is definitely the better of the two. It may be smaller than its sister store on Clement Street, but has much better food.
Before you get your food, you get corn muffins that are incredibly fluffy and moist. The ribs were good, but the fried chicken was awesome. The skin was crispy and the portion is huge. As far as side dishes, you should not leave Hard Knox without trying the mac n cheese.
It's worth driving all the way out to Dogpatch to try Hard Knox and get some good, old fashioned southern food.
