Zuni Cafe has been around soooo long, and yet it is still so very relevant as a culinary destination. We arrived on a Thursday night and the place was packed. It was around 8pm. We were given a table in a smaller room upstairs, not bad considering we had no reservations. The server was incredibly friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. He made great suggestions and did not become negative when my friend ordered two appetizers. My friend had the polenta with marscapone and a Caesar salad. I had the rabbit salad and the flat iron steak. We split a bottle of Qupe Petite Syrah. There were other items on the menu I wanted (the beat salad, the sole, etc), so you should be able to find a selection of items that will appeal to most tastes. This place has a very sort of New York feel to it. I love it. We will be back!

Zazie's is always worth the wait. Brunch is so good, that I usually end up ordering multiple breakfast items out of pure indecision. The gingerbread pancakes with poached pears and lemon curd are to die for, and on the savory side, the range of poached eggs are cooked to perfection. Unlike most breakfast places that serve food you could cook in your kitchen (if only we all had the energy on a Saturday morning), Zazie's serves up food for a reasonable price that is beyond most people's cooking abilities. Perfectly balanced, fresh, and tasteful, this spot never ceases to satisfy the palate.

I was very pleased with my experience at Woodward's Garden. The service was great (I am pretty sure it was one of the owners) and the meal was fantastic. It was nice because you didn?t feel rushed through your meal.(mine was a salad, then my entree and we or desert. There was no get out of here vibe that most restaurants put on you once you've stopped eating. That alone makes Woodward's stand out in the crowd.
Pros: fresh flowers on each table, great food, wine, service
Cons: parking was a bit hard.

I almost hate to review this place as I don't want to attract a crowd. Yes, the service is minimal, the ambience resembles the basement of a college dorm commons, and the tables & chairs were probably purchased from a high school that was modernizing in the 80's. That said, I go here almost every week and have for the last 2 years. Even during the busiest lunch times they're able to move people through the line, and I always find a table. The assortment of hot, cold, healthy and comfort foods in impressive. It's not as gourmet as Lightening Foods, but there's about twice the selection. The green salad portion of Wildflower is about 20% of their offering, and is very basic - nothing special or fancy. But, by the time I get to the lettuce my plate is already so full that it doesn't matter. (translate: if all you want is a green salad, don't go here). The first few times you go, I suggest taking very small portions of about 20-30 different dishes to identify your favorites. This don't always taste as you'd expect.
Pros: Food selection and quality, value, fast
Cons: Ambience

My first contact with Triptych was with David, the owner. I spoke with him a week before my get together & from our first conversation to the end of the actual dinner - my experience was positively great. He was extremely helpful & informative; he gave me the option of a set price menu ranging from $35 -$50 & catered to the price that I gave My group of 18 people got a DELICIOUS 5 course meal. We all got the soup du jour- hearty and VERY YUMMY, the sashimi - makes my mouth water as I remember how DELICIOUS the butterfish was, the crispy tofu salad was light & healthy & YUMMY! The main courses were EXCELLENT - from the meat/fish choice pork osso bucco, leg of lamb, pan-seared salmon to the vegetarian dish, quinoa & tofu... we all had the chance to taste them and that's when I started hearing how this was a place that they would COME BACK TO! Finally, dessert... 3 different type of creme brulees and a pyramid noisette - DELICIOUS!
The restaurant itself was very, very cool - the artwork , the decor really set the ambiance for a nice & relaxed place to have a group of friends get together; I would definitely go back here for a romantic date - it's not your typical snobby, snooty place where the price of the food definitely does not match up to the quality that you're paying for. The bathroom is pretty damn cool... love the 70's look - brought back some of my friends to their youths!
David & his staff were very kind, helpful, & really paid attention to my group. I was fortunate enough to meet David himself who was even nicer in person! I highly recommend this place & if you want to do a big group thing, this place is perfect! One friend said to me, "SF has great restaurants, after awhile, I found that I'm just not impressed, however, this one - I am and would definitely come back."
Pros: Everything! Even parking! You just have to get there before the night revelers come out on a weekend night!

Ti Piacera is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. After reading some reviews, we decided to try it one afternoon. We have been there a dozen times, and have never been disappointed. The wine prices are very reasonable for a great selection of interesting wines. The fried calamari along with the mushroom polenta are our favorite appetizers. My boyfriend always get the pasta with sausage which has an amzaing sauce (flavorful yet light), and my favorite is the clams linguine with a garlic and wine sauce. Most of all, the service is excellent and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Pros: prices, service, wine list, and food

good coffee, wine, beer -- great vibe, fresh sandwiches, and friendly staff make this the place to spend my gay 1, 2, & 3 dollar bills -- not to mention, you can take your drinks upstairs to the 4th floor sun deck and catch some rays (& boyz) during afternoon tea ;-)

I kept hearing about this place but it's in the Marina so it took awhile for me to get there. Now I wish there was one closer to me because I have no choice but to travel there repeatedly. It has a modern yet casual atmosphere--good place to sit down and enjoy eating great food (sort of a garden meets a Swedish wood sauna). If you like fresh local food as an ingredient in almost every item on the menu, you need to check this place out. They offer beautiful salads and allow you to have your own created with local organic farm produce. If you don't mind paying a bit, they have delicious organic juices made for you as you wait (this can take awhile so don't go there in peak hours if you want a quick juice to go). The appetizers and entrees range from Californian to Asian in style. If you want a hamburger don't go. They only offer free range organic chicken, shrimp and wild sustainable fish - the fresh halibut with seasonal vegetables and grains is amazing. If you care about where what you eat comes from, like the idea of fresh seasonal ingredients and don't want to spend a tonne, this is your place. Oh, and they also have scrumptious home made desserts and a good selection of local organic wines and beer. I give lettus 5 stars for being the best new discovery I've made in years!
Pros: great prices and access to fresh local organic food, delicious and diverse menu, sustainable
Cons: crowded, parking, wait
