I live in Boston and get to San Francisco less frequently than I'd like, but most trips include a stop for lunch at Chili-up. It's been long enough that I can't remember which is my favorite item on the menu, but it's the one rated spiciest. Have it with the corn tortillas and squeeze some lime juice on it. Wow, you'll be in heaven.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Limited variety of choices

if they take a lil while to bring you your food, well it's worth it, but they're pretty fast considering how packed the place gets....
I like the turkey, chicken, ribs, catfish, man everything is good
MAKE SURE TO ORDER THE CANDY YAMS...

This is one of my favorite restaurants in san francisco. The staff is friendly, and the food is ligit and good. If you like southern food, then you don't need to go much farther than this place. It offers what i think to be the best fried chicken in San Francisco, and best breakfast. Since it is only open until 2:30 p.m., I recommend getting there early. Sometimes the wait can be a bummer, but its definitely worth it.
Pros: All the food is as good as food can be.
Cons: You must get there early, or you'll have to wait.

Abigal's was around the corner on Greenwich Street from our hotel so parking was not an issue. From the outside handpainted sign we knew this was going to be a cool place to eat. We weren't disappointed. It reminded me of Sarabeth's Kitchen in NYC, but more intimate and local feeling.
My son ordered the fromage baguette french toast which he said was the best he'd had and looked gorgeous drizzeled in syrup, topped with fresh berries. The look on his face grew more serene with each bite. When I saw steel cut oatmeal on the menu I had to have it, as it is the only oatmeal I eat and rarely do I see it in restaurants. This was a creation I am still dreaming about. It tasted like hot tapiocca, with plump blackberries and strawberries nestled on top. I actually salivate when I think of it and have tried to replicate that delicious bowl of oats, but haven't come close.
The service was prompt, friendly and just enough. No one is effusive; if you want something you can attract their attention, if you want to be left alone, they'll give you that too.
We left the beautiful looking pastries and breads to future patrons, as we were satisfied with what we ate, but oh how I wish I had some it now. Back in Conn. Abigals is now a wonderful, delicious memory. Thank You and continue your high standards of creative, fresh, scrumptious food.
Pros: local flavor, the best, freshest food.
Cons: Can't think of one

This is a wonderful room, with its high ceiling, paneled walls and intriguing artwork. The staff are friendly and very professional. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced. And the food! My wife and I used to eat dinner at Maxfield's every other month but since the new menu was introduced, we may become weekly regulars. The choices are simple (fish, beef, lamb) and everything is of the highest quality, beautifully cooked. Each entree comes with two side dishes, chosen from an extensive list. Do not miss the lobster polenta or the citrus risotto! Put it all together and Maxfield's is one of the best dining experiences in the City.
Pros: Food, ambience, service

Abacus opened shortly after I moved from SF to NJ. After hearing many good words about it, finally I got the chance to visit the restaurant on my trip back this time. My experience there prompted me to write my very first restaurant review.
I totally agree with one of the statements on the site: ?Finally, a chinese restaurant that has both great food and atmosphere.? From the display of a bunch of freshly cut huge peony to the bat man figure holding onto Manhattan Bridge ?ON? the painting on the wall, I got the hint that this restaurant is as much about the details of presentation as that of taste.
For the starter, I ordered the portabella fritter. It has just the right amout of batter so it's crispy but not too hard. The flavor and juice of the mushroom is well retained. The ginger aioli had more than just a hint of ginger. However it wasn?t too spicy at all. I also ordered a hot and sour soup on recommendation from the server. Normally I don?t expect the hot and sour soup to be something that worthy writing home about, but this one definitely reminded me what my mom makes back at home in Shanghai. With lots of bean curd, enoki mushroom, egg and thin and tender slices of pork, it delivered a perfect balance between spicy and sour tastes. It?s definitely the best that I had in the States.
I ordered the sea bass dish for the main course. Again it was superb. The fish was very fresh, juicy and tasteful. It was seared just right so the crust will burst on bite. If there is anything more to be demanded, I would say I prefer the asparagus that comes with the sea bass to be more ?crunchy?. To finish off, I had a generous portion of durain icecream. It was simply excellent.
All in all, I had a wonderful experience at Abacus. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy. The service was prompt and friendly. Most importantly the food was stylish fusion yet authentic. I wish there were such a restaurant in Princeton, where my current home is.
Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service
Cons: Not really

After reading all the user reviews for Capannina. I decided this would be the rest. to take my Boyfriend for his Bday. Not only was the service and food outstanding. They brought over a couple of candles and dimmed the light for us to create a romantic setting..How cute! They even sang Happy Birthday to my boyfirend in Italian. The chocolate cake is to die for. A must if you want to take family or friends out for a special occasion.
Pros: staff, food
Cons: none

We're from out of town, so we found this restaurant on City Search and relied on the reviews to select it for my daughter's graduation dinner. We were not disappointed! My dad said his pasta was the best he's ever eaten. My husband had plenty of food and said the short ribs were really tasty. I had the lobster ravioli and totally loved it. Add me to the list of happy diners.
Pros: Excellent food, great service
Cons: a little out of the way

I had plans with my wife to go see a showing of the beloved "Jersey Boys" at theatre the other night, and a friend reccomended a restaurant close by in Union Square, S.F.. Usually I'm pretty skeptical of dinning out, I'd much rather eat a nice meal at home, but my companion insisted. Now, for the life of me, I could not remember the name of that restaurant my friend suggested to me; luckily, we somehow stumbled into La Scene Cafe & Bar, in the Warwick Hotel. We had an 8PM curtain and it was already close to 6:45PM, but the gentlemen Manager assured us that we would beable to enjoy a full meal. We shared a very tasty beet salad before enjoying our Sake Braised Pork and Dungenous Crab Rissotto entrees. All the while service was excellent and highly attentive, atmosphere was calm, cozy, and leisurely, and our waitress suggested the most delightful wine that complimented our dishes very well. Like I said, "luckily" we found this restaurant, we will most definitely return.
Pros: Food, Service, Hospitality, Wine
Cons: none
