When my son was four years old he went to this centrally located San Francisco art fun house. He loved it. My son is almost ten now, and he still loves it. He has made cards, music, and claymation movies. Near Moscone Center, there is a playground, a bowling alley, a merry go round, an ice skating rink and Zeum all in the same general location. Make a day of it. The wee little ones won't like it but four and up will have a blast. There are supplies so you can craft as well, everyone is entertained.

We have been taking classes here since it opened and love the attitude and skylights. All the teachers seem so nice and experienced. We really look forward to attending these classes.
Pros: skylights and great teachers
Cons: parking can be tough at rush hour

Don't let the unassuming door on grungy 16th st fool you. Walk up the steps and down the long hall and hidden away here is a big room with high ceilings and bamboo floors. Windows with leafy plants diffuse and illuminate the room with natural light. They teach anusara yoga here, which is one of my favorite kinds to practice, in part because most of the teachers are way more experienced than at other city studios.Oh, and mat rental is free.

Yerba Buena is my all time favorite ice rink. Located right next to the Sony Metreon, it provides a great atmosphere to hang out with friends at a low cost.
Skating usually runs about $10 (ice skate rental included), and the rink is regularly open to the public at least twice daily. The rink itself is well kept, and the ice is cleaned often so that you won't risk skating in a slipperly lake of melted ice.
The rink also features a few arcade games, but is primarily a place for enthusiasts and beginners to get on the ice and strut their stuff. Always a fun place to visit and skate at.

One of my favorite things about summer in SF are the free concerts on the beauteous Yerba Buena Gardens lawn. I just came back from the first concert of this summer series (Gamelan Sekar Jaya) and it was totally a summer-is-finally-here moment. The sun was out, the lawn was scattered with all sorts of interesting folks. They always have great sound for outdoor concerts. And the lineup this summer is amazing - all sorts of multicultural stuff that you might otherwise never see, but if it's free and the weather's nice, why not?

We visited the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts one day which was the first Tuedsay of the month because that was their free admission day. There are no free parking available so we had to park at a garage a block away from the musuem. It is a very nice art museum featuring not only canvas or print art but also film and video. It was really crowded though probably because it was a free day.

The people at this store are stoked about life and surfing! They helped my brother and me get dialed in surfing while visiting our folks last November, and I would absolutely recommend stopping by their shop when you're there. Tons of boards and runs a very knowledgeable, chill operation. I'm pau.

Great place! About a block away from Pier 39. This place has a lot of freaky sculpture as well as a life size replica of Barry Bonds. It is amazing looking at the different arts they have. They also have other celebrities. Great for kids and an attraction to many tourist who visit the area.
