I used to come here on field trips as a kid, and I went back recently for the first time and it was just as fun! They have an impressive number of hands-on exhibits that deal with all aspects of science: plants, animals, genetics, physics, chemistry, etc. It's a great place to take your kids as they'll learn a ton and have fun doing so too. I loved the shadow box and the oversized bubble makers when I was a fourth grader, and was happy to still see both things still around.
There is free admission on the first Wednesday of the month.

I graduated college with a degree in Physics, so I'm kind of like a kid in a candy store here. My kids are old enough to find most of this interesting or they like learning from Daddy. We have a membership and we go right when it opens and shut it down. My kids favorite part is the Alice in Wonderland room and they can spend a long time in there, followed by the spinning gazebo thing that simulates how the goldfish feel when they people push a button and make their environment spin around. It gets busy on the weekends and that also teaches my kids to take turns with other children.

The Exploratorium is a great place for children, and adults alike. There's no better way to introduce children to the amazing world of science. There are a tremendous amount of hands on experiments, and there is an endless amount of activities to explore. The Exploratorium is one of San Francisco's hidden gems, hidden away from many other hidden attractions, however its a must see for anyone that has children. The lines may get a bit long, unless you go during the weekdays. I highly recommend the Exploratorium.

Science museums are always great places to take kids and the Exploratorium is no exception. They have a wide range of exhibits that appeal to (and can be understood) all different age groups. I'm particularly impressed with their living plants/animals displays and some of the newer interactive/computer exhibits. I often find myself more interested well after the kid I'm with gets bored. Some of the displays are getting a little worn down and it would be nice to have more staff around to help talk about some of the displays, but you have to love any museum that encourages you to touch.

Perfect to bring the kids to when you have spare time. This place has everything that you could imagine. The first time I went there I was so suprised and learned so much about science. This place is very entertaining where you can learn about science, art, and human perception. The entrance fee is worth its cost. They even have WIFI internet if you bring your laptop.

I used to come here all the time when I was a kid, and I'd love to go back again. There were so many interesting exhibits. Not only were they fun, but they were educational too. This is a great place to go to for a field trip, to take your kids, to go with your friends, and maybe even for a date!

I love going to this place. It's really more of a fun place than a museum. You learn a lot about science through hands-on exhibits. They have a biology section, ecology section with lots of bugs and plants, physics section with tons of neat little experiments and other cool science and math things, like optical illusions and probability experiments. Very kid and family friendly. First Wed. of each month is free! Go early on that day cuz of long lines.

THis museum isn't liek the other museums in san francisco which only have things in glass showcases. IN this place, you can play around with toys, learn cool facts, and watch simulators. It is an extremely fun place that changes their experiments all the time so you wont get bored of them. It is free on the first wednesdays of each month so hurry! The tv visual gallery is a must see.

This museum is great for children, in fact it's designed with them in mind! Nearly all the exhibits feature something to push, pull, touch, turn, feel, or explore. There are many different exhibits, so many that children may even feel overwhelemed, wanting to see everything at once.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and enjoy entertaining school groups for field trips, as well as daycamps, and other groups. There is nearby park where people can eat lunch, or you can grab lunch at their snack bar inside.
If you decide to take your children, it would be smart to set aside an afternoon, as it may take awhile to see and do everything that is available inside.

I love the Exploratorium!! Even though I wasn't much of a physics fan back in school, this place is the best. There are so many exhibits to look at. And the best part about the exploratorium is that almost everything is a hands on expereince. Thats what makes this place unique and interesting. I would recommend this place for all people. You learn alot and have fun too.
