This course is set along the idyllic shoreline of Lake Merced and is stunning, demanding and inexpensive.
Facts
One of the busiest golf courses west of the Mississippi, it actually contains two separate golf courses: the nine-hole, 2,700-yard Fleming Course and the 18-hole, 6,586-yard Harding Course.
The Experience
The course curves along the edges of beautiful Lake Merced, so although there aren't many hills, there are numerous water traps and bunkers. Despite its ocean-side location, the course usually boasts nice conditions, due largely to plentiful cypress trees, which form natural windbreaks. The course is also home to the world-renowned San Francisco City Championship, one of the world's largest amateur tournaments.
